Colonel Kawsu Camara, Demoted To Private, And Then Fired!!!

Deputy IGP Modou Gaye Also Dismissed!!!

News just came in about the demotion, and dismissal of army Colonel Kawsu Camara, AKA BOMBARDEH.  Colonel Camara was demoted to the rank of private before he was handed with his marching orders. A statement read on Radio Gambia today announces the demotion and subsequent sacking of private Camara from the armed forces. Bombaradeh used to be a close confidant of President Jammeh, and also a longtime loyalist.  He has been released from state custody, but has lost his employment with the army.

Bombaman was arrested alongside with the Chief of Defense Staff General Yankuba Drammeh, General Lang Tombong Tamba, and a score of top army officers, including civilians. He was held over night by the state, only to be released the next day, while investigations into his case continued.  His fate has been decided with the President ordering for his immediate demotion, and dismissal from the army.

In another development, Deputy Inspector General of police Modou Gaye has also been dismissed with immediate effect, according to reports monitored on GRTS this evening.  No reason was advanced for both sackings. Gaye still remains in state custody, together with his close friend, and Godfather General Tamba.

In a separate development, a prominent Banjul businessman Laye Joof has been arrested. Mr. Joof a former police detective during the First Republic was detained in connection with the so called foiled coup. Mr. Joof was jailed by the PPP administration following his alleged role in a missing  funds, which was a subject of police investigations. He walked out of jail, and became supper rich. His sudden riches was a subject of discussion across the country. The source of his wealth was unknown to many here, as speculations  rife in town.

In a related Gambian news, this paper has gathered that the jailed Tabacco Road businessman Kebba Touray has been denied medical treatment by the state despite his ailing health conditions. Touray’s family were also being denied access to the detainee.
