Burglary At Farafenni Amory- Arms Declared
Missing
…Soldier Ebrima Marreh Says He Was Sent By General Tamba, And Drammeh To Steal Arms
NIA Investigations Absolved General Drammeh-As Jammeh Ordered For His Reinstatement
Private Marreh Feared Dead??
A good number of arms and ammunitions have been circulated into the country. We can confirm with authority that some of the arms have been hidden in different locations. Matter of fact, Banjul, the capital city is one of the locations, where the
said arms are hidden. The circulation of the said arms, followed a burglary at the Farafenni army barracks. You wouldn’t believe this: Ebrima Marreh, was linked to the said burglary, which led to the massive arrest of civilians, and top security chiefs across the country.
The story goes like this: Ebrima Marreh is a private soldier posted at the Farafenni military barracks. Soldier Marreh, who hailed from Buwiam, was able to break into the Farafenni armory, and smuggled some arms from the barracks, a top military source said. Some rocket launchers, and other artillery weapons have went missing at the said barracks. Yahya Jammeh has not been properly briefed by his intelligence operatives. We are here to report the facts, and nothing but the facts.
The reinstatement of former Deputy Chief Defense Staff Yankuba Drammeh was possible, following an investigation conducted absolving him from the Farafenni armory theft case. CDS Drammeh was implicated by soldier Marreh, who informed investigators that he was sent by the former to get arms for him in a bid to topple President Jammeh’s Government. Both Ebrima Marreh, and CDS Yankuba Drammeh came from Buwiam, but Drammeh was baffled by the soldier’s allegations when grilled by the NIA. Drammeh said he does not know any soldier by the name Ebrima Marreh, who was from Buwiamkankuntu. This was why Yankuba Drammeh was arrested, demoted to private, before was he was fired from the force.
A top army chief informed this paper that Ebrima Marreh was put on a gun point by his captives, who compelled him to name his accomplice(s), or risked being killed. The army official said Marreh was subjected to a systematic torture in a bid to illicit confession from him. He finally let the cat out of the bag, when he claimed that he was sent by the sacked army chief of staff General Lang Tombong Tamba to break into the Farafenni armory to get some arms for him. Although, his claims could not be independently confirmed.
Soldier Marreh informed investigators that General Tamba was his “ GOD FATHER,” and as such he was obliged to execute any order given to him by the erstwhile army General. He said General Tamba has done a lot of things for him. He was also opposed to Tamba’s unceremonious removal. He thought that the best way to avenge it was to mobilize arms for a possible takeover, sources said.
General Yankuba Drammeh was set free, following Marreh’s confessions. Ebrima Marreh changes his story, which led to Drammeh’s reinstatement into the military. Drammeh has since returned to work.
There are fears that Ebrima Marreh might be murdered. His own family could not give account about his whereabouts. They could not tell if Lamin is alive, or dead.
Thanks to a top army chief in active duty, they were briefed about Marreh’s current predicament, sources said. Marreh is between life and death. If Jammeh’s thugs decide to take his life-without availing him the right to due process of the law, then there is cause for concern.
We deemed it imperative to expose his story to the world. There is also fear that General Tamba might as well be secretly executed by the Government. Tamba, like other detainees are being constantly harassed by their captives. The Government wants them to confess to a crime they are not privy to.
There are more questions than answers in regards to the Farafenni armory theft case. We have not been told where the missing arms are? Who are Marreh’s accomplice(s) besides Tamba? Why are the arms hidden in different locations? Why should General Tamba use a private soldier who is barely known in the military? Who is going to benefit from the missing arms? Who dumped the AK 47 riffle at a Kuntaur Tuba farm? Why is the state not willing to discuss the Farafenni army burglary case?
Erima Marreh is said to be a fearless soldier. His father Suwaro Marreh is a grand marabout. He is well known in the Fonnis. President Jammeh will learn through the hard way. Look out for part two of this piece.
