Yankuba Touray Freed At Last-As State
Announces His Unconditional Release

Former Fisheries Minister Yankuba Touray has been released from custody last night, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Mr. Touray who was held for over a week, was accused of coup plot. Sources said Touray was released unconditionally by the state. No charges were proffered against the erstwhile APRC chief propagandist.
Touray's release came as a surprise to his family. He was set free at night, which is very unusual. He has since reunited with his family.
In another development, General Tamba, and other detainees were moved from the Mile Two Prisons to the NIA offices. They are still being detained. Reports suggest that Tamba and co might likely be released soon.
A good number of civilians are still languishing in jail. The Government is yet to issue a statement about the actual reason behind their detention. Many believe that the mass arrest was a blackmail calculated to target innocent soldiers, and civilians.
In another Gambian news, three senior officials of the judiciary have been charged with theft by clerk. Haruna Jaiteh, and Aminata Saho have both been detained, as they faced millions of dalasis theft charges. The third accused Ngui Mboob, has been released on bail, thanks to her pregnancy. She is likely to be detained after her safe delivery, sources said. The trial of these legal luminaries is attracting national attention.
