Former Speaker Fatou
Jahumpa Ceesay Arrested
Former Speaker of Parliament Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay has been arrested, sources reaching this paper said. The disgraced speaker is among the hundreds of detainees held by the state on allegations of coup plot. Details of her arrest are sketchy at this hour. Sources said FJC has been missing for days.
Madam FJC recently took out a ritual at the Bijilo Beach, where she slaughtered a goat along the riverside. She was spotted on site, and was accompanied by a cab driver. It is not clear if her arrest has anything to do with the sacrificed goat. But sources said the speaker has been languishing in state custody.
This paper tried to reach FJC’s family for comments, but no one was available to shed light on the story. Insecurity continues to grip families here. No one wants to talk to reporters for fear of being arrested.
FJC was a close friend of General Tamba. The majority of the people associated with the erstwhile army General have been summoned for questioning. Chief among them was Businessman Amadou Samba, Muhammed Jah, and other business executives in the country.
There are speculations that Mustapha Njie, alias Taf has been arrested by the NIA. There was no independent confirmation to Taf’s arrest, but what is clear though is that the number of people arrested for the past weeks, have been grossly underreported by the media. Close to one hundred people have been detained, while dozens others were questioned and released the same day.
In another development, the Daily Observer, which is Government’s propaganda tool has not been printing for the past couple of days. While the paper’s online edition is operational, there is no printed copies in circulation. This paper has assigned a reporter to investigate about the Observer’s news blackout.
