Gambia’s Vice President Snubs APRC Janjangbureh Delegation

As VP Refused To Grant Audience To Party Supporters

By Staff Reporter James Jammeh, Banjul

Gambia’s Vice President Dr. Aja Isatou Njie Saidy has rejected  a delegation of women  from Janjangbureh Maccarthy in the Central River Region, who paid a courtesy call on her at her office in Banjul last week this paper was informed.

According to sources close to the Country's VP, the reason of rejecting the delegation was not known to the visitors, who travelled all the way from the Island Town some three hundred kilometers away from the Capital.

Sources further informed this paper that the women have done all the necessary protocols, but  all of a sudden their mission was turned to end in disaaray, as the vice president refused to grant them audience.

" All these women  are prominent APRC supporters and refusing to grant them any audience, could lead to the APRC to losing popularity in the area.  They are very strong and vocal,” an insider told this paper".

A  member of the delegation was quoted as saying that their mission was to discuss some political issues affecting them in the area since she is the minister responsible for the women's affairs.

The disgraced APRC supporters left Banjul with heavy heart, as the VP refused to see them. They felt humiliated, and embarrassed by the VP’S rude attitude. She never advanced any reason for  turning down these loyal APRC women supporters.

Observers argue that this kind of treatment meted out to the APRC supporters by the VP could weaken President Jammeh’s support base in the region. They said despite her busy schedules the VP should have the courtesy to talk to the women.
