Following our editorial on Mathew Kali Jallow’s dishonest and unethical journalistic practices, Jallow who is also an aspiring future public figure in The Gambia, has a  criminal history in the United States, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. According to dependable court records accessed by the Freedom Newspaper, Mathew Jallow was convicted on a 4^Th Degree Sexual Assault about nine years ago by the Dane County Court House in Wisconsin.  The incident occurred on April 1^st  of 2000, according to the this paper’s findings. The Criminal case number associated with Jallow’s  case is: 2000CM001331

An insider at the Dane County Court House confirmed Mathew Jallow’s criminal record, when this reporter provided the case number to her. The insider said the case file in question was “under storage”  and is accessible to the public if requested. She provided an email in which one could make a request for the court records on Mathew Jallow’s conviction.

Mr. Jallow never contested the criminal misdemeanor charges filed against him by the State of Wisconsin, sources said. He was given parole by the court as a first offender. The court refrained from imposing any custodial sentence against him.

Parole are usually given to  law offenders in a bid to give them a chance to learn from their past mistakes. The deferred prosecution or sentencing agreement(s) on this case was fulfilled, and the charge(s) were dismissed.

Under Wisconsin law, a deferred prosecution agreement allows a person facing criminal charges to enter into an agreement with the court to fulfill certain conditions in return for a dismissal. To be eligible to participate in deferred prosecution an offender usually does not have a criminal record, accepts responsibility for the offense, and must be willing to participate in the agreement.”

Under the situation, said a legal analyst Mr. Jallow has no criminal record. He has fulfilled the conditions imposed by the court to warrant the said conviction to be expunged  from the records. Although he never contested the state charges.

Under Wisconsin law, it is illegal for employers to discriminate paroled convicts. “It may be a violation of state law to discriminate against a job applicant because of an arrest or conviction record. Generally speaking, an employer may refuse to hire an applicant on the basis of a conviction only if the circumstances of the conviction substantially relate to the particular job.
