Scary Revelations About Bun Sanneh’s Corruption Web

Following our publication of an article implicating some high profile figures in the endemic drug dealing activities in Gambia, including the country's own security chiefs, the Freedom Newspaper has been contacted by a concerned individual who, apparently, has been equally bewildered by the excessive spending ability of the head of Gambia's drug enforcement body, the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDEA).

 ''Your piece on Bun Sanneh of NDEA sounds grave but there is evidence to support it,'' the author, who wished to remain anonymous for some personal reasons, wrote.

''One of his [Bun Sanneh] sons, Sulayman, 22 (presumably the eldest), is living in Bristol. Bun's half brother, Lamin Sanneh, also lives with his wife and daughter in Bristol.''

According to this author, Lamin Sanneh finished his degree course in the UK with more than £10,000 outstanding tuition fees. He said that after hard work by Lamin and his wife to clear off the debt, Bun then came to their aid, settling everything at a go. 

''I was told that Bun was one of the state ministers,'' the author who has been a keen observer of what is one of Gambia's highly extravagant political families, said. And he added, ''Bun finances his son's education, accommodation, tuition fees and travelling expenses between Bristol and London.''

''The fundamental question is, how is a mere director able to access and accumulate a disposal income of this magnitude?'' the author queried.

This, apparently, is a familiar question on the lips of thousands of Gambians. And the answer certainly lies in the hands of the Gambia's security establishment, and, unfortunately, Bun and his kinds are in charge of these corrupt institutions.

Until Yahya Jammeh sees reason to question the unexplained spending prowess of his political favourites, it will take a long and painful time before Gambians get to the core of what is happening to our coffers.
