D 100, 000 Bail Bond For An Alleged Fraudster

Lamin Touray, an alleged fraudster who is currently standing trial for obtaining money by false pretence, was Wednesday granted court bail in the sum of D100, 000 by Magistrate Effim of the Brikama Magistrate Court.
The particulars of the offence states that the accused, on or about Tuesday 3rd of December 2009, at Brikama Town in the Western Region, the Republic of The Gambia, allegedly defrauded one Sana Bojang of the sum of D28, 000 with the pretext that he would procure a vehicle for him, despite known that such a representation is false.
When the charge sheet was read to him and interpreted in the local language he claimed to understand, the accused denied the allegation.
However, the presiding magistrate, Effim, said since the offence is bailable, ''the accuse is here by granted bail in the sum of D100, 000 with two Gambian sureties in the like sum.''
Accordingly, the sureties should be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and should be identified by Gambian national and deposit two passport sized photos, as well as swear to an affidavit.
The presiding magistrate then adjourned the case to the 12th of January 2010 for continuation.
