Over 275 Opposition Supporters Goes Green In KMC

By Staff Reporter James Jammeh, Banjul
Over two-hundred and seventy-five opposition supporters in the Kanifing Municipality Thursday January 28th 2010 shifted their allegiance to the ruling APRC Party at the KMC Grounds, the Freedom Newspaper can report. The defectors who claimed to be opposition supporters said their reason to joining the ruling APRC Party was as a result of the tremendous developments recorded  by the Gambian Leader President Yahya Jammeh in the past fifteen years.

The defectors noted that the APRC under President Jammeh, has brought a lot of significance development to the door steps of the
Gambian which prompted them to come and join the party.

News monitored over the state media could not ascertain which party
the defectors belongs to but reports reaching this paper revealed that
they are members of the main opposition UDP and were believed to come from different parts within the KMC.

The alleged defection came at a time when the newly appointed national mobilizer of the APRC Mayor Yankuba Colley wraps up his country wide tour and discussed issues with party militants and seek more support for the party ahead of the 2011 elections in the Gambia.

In his speech, Mayor Colley,  thanked the defectors for their concern
and love saying that they would never regret joining the APRC. He
further told the gathering that the party would be victorious in the
2011 polls because Gambians are still loyal to the President and his
party.
Mr. Colley advised the militants to rally behind the party and promote unity among themselves at all times noting that united they stand and divided they fall.

Other speakers included Governor Lamin Waa Juwara, Pa Sainey Jallow, Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, Ndey Njie NAM for jeshwang Constituency who all stated that the APRC is the only party to be voted in 2011 as the leader has transformed the country into a silicon valley and provide job opportunities for the youth, who are today benefiting from Jammeh's Government .

Meanwhile,  opposition UDP supporters in the area noted that they are
not moved by the recent defection claims---saying that it is "unfounded and baseless"  as many a time people would claimed to have defected from their party and at the end of the day it turns out to  be a blatant lie.
