Gambia: Has Powerful Businesses Hired Mercenaries To Kill Jammeh?
Has Powerful Businesses Hired Mercenaries To Kill Jammeh?

Why Jammeh Is Absent From The Public View?

Classified State Secrets Declassified!!!

By Lamarana Jallow, Son Of The Gambia

I have been compelled to write for the sake of posterity. I am one of the personal aides of  President Yahya Jammeh. Bear with me for a moment to relate my experiences at the State House in Banjul and Kanilai, the President’s home villa. I am not writing out of hatred, vengeance, or malice. My decision to come out from the closet has been prompted by the President’s move to smear our gallant and patriotic armed forces and the influential business community. I want The Gambian nation—including our armed forces to understand some key national security issues currently boggling the mind of the Head of State.

I do know for a fact that the President has been briefed not to show up in the public view to avoid  being assassinated by an unnamed hired mercenaries, who intelligence reports suggest are currently in the country. These mercenaries have been tasked to remove Jammeh and restore an interim government to be headed by Civilians. It has come to our attention that several millions of dalasis have been pumped into this major operation, which is seemingly worrying Oga to death.

The brains behind the planned Jammeh assassination could not be identified in view of the scanty information received by the NIA. We do know for a fact that there are moves underway to capture or kill Jammeh.

The President has personally shared his worries with me. But Oga does not buy the NIA’S story that the plotters include some foreign mercenaries. He thinks the plotters  are within the army command—which resulted to the arrest of General Tamba, Bombaradeh and other senior army officers, including some businessmen.

It is true that a vessel containing arms was intercepted in Bissau. There is an investigation underway to trace the individuals(s) linked to the arms vessel.

I do not want to preempt the investigations, but Captain Saine of the Interpol has already leaked some of the  details pertaining to the arms scandal to people who do not need know. Captain Saine has offended the President.

The President would be absent from the public view for sometime because he has taken the security threats seriously. That’s why he is refusing to release General Tamba and other detainees, even though there is no evidence linking them to the plot. He also dares travel outside this country. He is increasingly worried about those behind this plot to kill him.

Our country is at cross-road. The Vice President is running the duties of the President. She deputized him in conferences and other major public functions. The President spent his time in Kanilai and in some occasion in Banjul. He rarely travels by road. Bintang, which is situated along the River Gambia, has been his secret route for traveling.

I do not want to be specific in my narrations of happenings—because this would give the NIA and the President a clue about who is talking at this hour. I am declassifying these state secrets so that The Gambian population would know the security stake this country has found itself.

In few weeks, you will hear another arrest of senior military officials. I am not ruling out the arrest of the current CDS Kinteh. I know what is cooking! Kinteh is forewarned. He should watch his back closely.

The plane bird story was a hoax to fool Gambians. The President would have been toppled if he had traveled that fateful day. The Gambia Civil Aviation officials were compelled to write that false report—which was aimed at distracting the public from the realities on the ground.

If anyone tells you that Oga is a security novice is a lie. He has personally foiled many planned coups in the past. He seems to be suspicious about what is about to befall him, but unfortunately he doesn’t have a clue about the brains behind the operation. These are powerful  influential people who want to see sanity restored in the Gambian. General Tamba is not even close to this organized ring committed to removing the President. That I can attest to.

The President has to understand that these people have been paid huge money to do a job. If his NIA were efficient as they claimed to be, they would have come up with substantive leads by now, but it appears that the inevitable is getting nearer.

Nigeria’s name has featured in the preliminary investigations, but there is no evidence whatsoever linking Nigerian business men to the operation. Oga should stop blaming the wrong people. He has been misled.

Naturally, if security challenges of this nature cropped up, Oga’s first suspect would be directed at army chiefs. That’s why General Tamba is languishing in jail, but he is not connected to the operation.

What Oga should be concerned about is how to foil the plot and not to embark on a fishing expedition. He is creating more enemies for himself. There are soldiers who are ready to join any group that is out to liberate our people. They are doing this because of Oga’s  poor leadership direction. I have to go, because I have to be in Kanilai.  Expect my next dispatch in few days time.  I am still alive. Oga is yet to take my life.
