Gambia: Press Release: Name stadium after Biri
Press Release: Name stadium after Biri

A group of football fans and sports Journalists have come together to lead a crusade to name the Independence stadium after the greatest football player that ever put on the national colors of our country and he is no other than  Alhagi Momodou Ngoose Njie, Biri Biri. Biri's prolific career that landed him in Derby County in the English Premiership, Denmark and Spain spans over thirty years.

This call that was first made through Gamsports.com is now reechoing amongst sports lovers and the lucky ones who had an opportunity to see Biri do wonders for our country in the international arena. It is a known fact that both republics have honored him for his services and the current leader, President Jammeh has celebrated him by honoring him on numerous occasions which all sports fans appreciate greatly.

However, we have one more request and it’s an honorable and noble one; NAME THE INDEPENDENCE STADIUM , ALHAGI MOMODOU NJIE BIRI STADIUM. It will not only be a fitting tribute to the ICON, it will be a lasting symbol to memorialize all his heroics and indeed compensate for the lack of film on his prolific career.

It has been reported that there is a Stadium named for Biri in Spain and the Seville fan Club to this day is called, NOTRE BIRI BIRI, the time has now come for his native Gambia, to consider naming the Stadium for him and for all he has done for The Gambia.

To support and endorse this crusade, please send an email to biri1963@hotmail.com .Meanwhile to know the Legend and Icon, please visit www.gamsports.com
