Michael Scals Calls President Jammeh a “ True Patriot.”

Dear Mr. Editor,

 To call President Jammeh a patriot, is not an unreasonable assumption to make. To tour his mind would reveal a man who believes..that he is a patriot. There have been many such patriots throughout history. Hitler considered himself to be a patriot, and decried the Jewish people to be the scourge of mankind.

He butchered some 5 million of them, including children. One of his more patriotic notions was to build a separate college where the Arian race could inter breed. Thus to create a future master race of blue eyed, blond haired children, in which to assimilate the cloning  of a "superior" dominant class, to rule the rest of Earth's population. He was very close to achieving world domination through advanced technical and scientific inspection of atomic power.

In fact,  it was predominantly captured German scientists that..under American supervision.....eventually split the atom. Today America has more weapons of mass destruction per square mile with the capability of destroying the Earth at the touch of a button. We rely on America's constitution and powerful democracy..to ensure that they will never have recourse to unleashing such an apocalypse upon mankind.

In your terse letter to me you aspire to connect Hitler to Yahya Jammeh. Certainly the Hitler youth may be compared to the "Green boys" and the Gestapo to the Gambia's National Intelligence Agency {NIA} You point out the arbitrary arrests and illegal detentions and the International community have expressed its concerns over extra judicial killings and gross human rights violations, especially in the aftermath... since the attempted coup against Jammeh of March 2006.

We recall the act of the International community to address the growing threat of Hitler through its incredible mistake of appeasement towards Hitler’s transgressions. The British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain...holding aloft that signed piece of paper....announcing to the world that there would be "Peace in our time"

Of course.....Britain  and the Commonwealth nations {The Gambia included}  eventually paid a terrible price as the only force upon Earth to stand against Hitler....until America some two savage years later...agreed to join the battle. But not before making sure that Britain would pay the cost of that war for some 30 years after. This destroyed Great Britain's economic wealth and gifted this to the American's.

 When Jammeh attacks Britain he forgets that his freedom was paid for with the blood of millions of my countrymen and women.

  "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"

Boswell tells us... that Samuel Johnson made this famous remark on the evening of April 7th 1775.

He further eludes; " It is the quality of patriotism to be jealous and watchful, to observe all secret machinations, and to see public dangers at a distance. The true lover of his country is ready to communicate his fears, and to sound the alarm, whenever he perceives the approach of mischief. But he sounds no alarm, whenever there is no enemy. He terrifies his countrymen until he is terrified himself. The Patriotism, therefore maybe justly doubted of him, who professes to be disturbed by incredulities."

As such I would put it to you ..that when I say Jammeh is a patriot.....there is certainly some differential..in my true definition of this word.
