Editorial: The Death Of Jammeh, And His
Government!!!!
Security Chiefs Are Talking!!!
Is This The End Game????
Talking to some key security chiefs—handling Yahya Jammeh’s personal security, one is compelled to sympathize with them. These people are going through hard times. Many a time Jammeh’s aides, including service chiefs are fired on frivolous grounds. By merely missing the President’s phone calls, could cost one his, or her job. We are dead serious about this. Jammeh thinks that each time he calls his aides, they should pick up the phone without unnecessary delays.
We do not want to name names here, but there are documented cases of security chiefs being verbally coached or fired for merely not answering to the President’s phone calls. That’s absurd, isn’t it? Well, that’s the price of having a mentally retarded Head of state.
When it was first reported here at Freedom some years ago, that the President Yahya Jammeh had developed signs of mental deficiencies, his supporters took a swipe at us—calling us “haters”, anti progress, being unpatriotic, rude, and so forth. They thought this was a blackmail coming from a paper—Dr. Saja Taal, and his group called the “ Hate Paper.” If reporting the truth tantamount to being a “Hateful Paper”, then we are glad to be branded as such.
Today, we have been vindicated. The madman called President Jammeh is steadily destroying the main pillars of his administration. Almost, every fabric of Gambia’s society has been hard hit by the destruction perpetrated by the mentally challenged leader.
First, Jammeh started with his perceived political opponents. He used some vulnerable members of our armed forces to kill their fellow brothers, and sisters—perceived to be anti Government. What Jammeh does is that, he would invite a trusted “security chief” at the State House during wee hours, and instruct him to use his men to kill Deyda Hydara, firebomb the Independent Newspaper, abduct Syngle Nyassi, or kill Lawyer Darboe. These are not mere allegations. These are testimonial accounts given to us voluntarily by active serving security chiefs in Jammeh’s Government.
It is imperative to note that there were instances—in which some service chiefs refused to execute Jammeh’s secret killing errands, and domestic terrorism activities—directed at perceived political opponents. The few brave ones, who could not be used were either sacked, or arrested on bogus criminal charges.
The Gambia is a small country, where people are interrelated. Our “chicken head” mentally sick President does not realize that the very killers he assigned to run his errands have families as well. Some might wittingly or unwittingly killed perceived political opponents, without realizing that they might be related to such hit list victims.
The army’s current trials and tribulations should not surprised Gambians at all. The soldiers being arrested, jailed, and fired—whether directly, or indirectly have in the past executed a mission on behalf of Jammeh. Some are victims of their own conscience, while others are being persecuted for daring to refuse to execute an unlawful order from the President.
As a keen follower of Jammeh’s misplaced policies, we have witnessed a dramatic shift on his treatment of perceived opponents over the past 12 months. Jammeh’s biggest threat today is not the opposition—but his own party, the army, and the overseas Gambian online community. He is very mindful about what he said, or does—despite his ailing mental health. Jammeh does not want the Freedom Newspaper to be read, or mentioned in public gatherings. That’s why he resorts to blocking the paper in The Gambia.
The US Embassy, British High Commission, MRC and other NGOS in the country can access the Freedom Newspaper, but the populace has been denied access to the paper because of government fear. Jammeh believes that the paper is capable of “indoctrinating” the populace to hate him.
The Diplomatic Community are privy to this major cyber crime perpetrated by the Jammeh administration, but no one here dares to call the government to order to liberalize the Internet. At least, the US State Department on its annual Human Rights Report on Gambia did highlighted about Internet censorship in The Gambia—notably the blockage of the Freedom Newspaper by the Government.
Jammeh wants to keep Gambians into darkness, so that when he kills our people the world would not know about it. That’s why we here at Freedom are prepared to spend our last penny, just to ensure that our reporters are financially equipped to be able do their work in The Gambia. We shall go as far as recruiting Yahya Jammeh’s own mother, or wife to spy on him. We love our job, and are ready to go extra miles to expose this idiotic President.
In as much as Jammeh is trying to prevent Gambians from reading the Freedom Newspaper, we have strategized a new approach to counter his moves. We intend to print 5000 hard copies of the Freedom Newspaper at a given date (withheld), and circulate it across the country. A leading US printing company is going coordinate this grand publication for us. The copies would be supplied to Gambians “ free of charge.” Let see how the NIA would react to the shipment of the Freedom Newspaper copies to The Gambia. Can they stop it??? You have been taken off guard players.
