Bun Sanneh , LT. Col. Walley Njie, Others At Mile Two
By Staff Reporter Modou Barry, Banjul
Gambia’s anti narcotic chief Ebrima Bun Sanneh, and a score of other security chiefs have been arrested, and dismissed from their respective positions with immediate effect, Freedom Newspaper’s Weekend Edition can report. Mr. Sanneh who is being investigated on alleged drug, and gun possession charges was briefly held at the National Intelligence Agency offices—before he was transferred to the Big House—the Mile Two Central Prisons, sources here said. The NIA said it had received numerous complaints against the former drug chief—who is apparently embroiled into a drug scandal, which was earlier reported by the Freedom Newspaper.
The Agency is reported to have Freedom Newspaper Internet printed past editions in its posssession—in which Bun Sanneh, Boy Bansang, Manjang, and other drug lords in the country were linked to shady drug trafficking schemes.
It is not clear what might have triggered the State House to develop interest in Sanneh’s case at this time, even though the Freedom Newspaper had repeatedly highlighted the culture of corruption at the National Drug Enforcement Agency.
In March of 2009, some group of drug squad officers petitioned President Jammeh, complaining about Bun Sanneh’s corrupt practices, but the State House at the time seems to be disinterested about pursuing the matter. Sanneh, whose picture was published on the famous Dr, Njomborr column here at Freedom—amidst a $20 dollar quiz gift for the winner who identified the disgraced drug squad chief, is currently serving as a guest at the Mile Two.
It has been gathered that the state is trying to nail down the detained former IGP Essa Badjie on drug related charges. Mr. Badjie has been named as an accomplice who aids, and abets drug lords in the country, sources said.

Also arrested, was Lieutenant Colonel Wally Njie of The Gambia National Guard. Mr. Njie had his services with the army prematurely terminated.
According to authoritative sources, the former IGP is likely to be charged with giving false information to a public officer—as he reports suggest that he misled the President on numerous occasions on issues pertaining to national security. Mr. Badjie has been accused of being the main brain behind the arrest, and detention of the former army chief Major General Lang Tombong Tamba.
