Karamo Bojang, Arrested, And Dismissed
By Staff Reporter Peter Mendy, Banjul
National Drug Enforcement Deputy Director Karomo Bojang has been arrested, and dismissed from the force with immediate effect—thanks to the Hurricane Kanilai, which is currently purging corrupt public officials in the country, Freedom Newspaper’s Weekend Edition can report. Mr. Bojang was arrested alongside with his Boss Ebrima Bun Sanneh—both of whom are serving as guest at Mile Two.
The Freedom Newspaper has learnt that the President is apparently displeased with the status quo at the National Drug Enforcement Agency. He wants the NIA to probe the official activities of the detained officials, who have been linked to corruption racketeering, and abuse office.
The National Drug Enforcement Agency is becoming an extension of the nation drug cartel—who bribed top officials in a bid to avoid prosecution. It has been gathered that Bun Sanneh, and some of his fellow associates are on the payroll of the prominent drug lords: such as Majang, Boy Bansang, and other unnamed foreign nationals operating in The Gambia.
A senior drug squad agent who spoke to this paper described the President’s intervention as timely. The official said Bun and his management team had “killed” many drug cases—which could have generated millions of dalasis for the state if the accused persons were convicted by the courts. He accuses Sanneh and co of undermining the efforts of “ hardworking” members of the agency, who are trying to make this country a drug free nation.
As we go to press, no formal charges have been filed against the detainees. They are yet to be accorded with the right to an attorney. Hopefully by Monday, the state would come up with charges against the accused persons, sources said.
