The results of the last Kombo East by- elections in The Gambia clearly sent a signal manifesting another rift in the political chemistry of the tiny West African state. To all major global political analysts, the election has not only manifested the tarnishing image of the ruling APRC, but also an increasing political awareness that is becoming a catalyst for change in The Gambia. On the other hand it has served as a litmus test and a lesson for the opposition to tie strings together in the democratic combat to end perpetuating self-rule.

Considering the force and strength of the ruling APRC in this particular constituency for the past decade, one can satisfactorily conclude that there is a rising momentum in political awareness in the tiny West African State.

IMG_0498.JPGThe Jammeh regime must therefore be aware of the changing 21st century politics and the end to the era of dictatorship and repression. The Government must respect Democracy as the dominant political ideology among all the others. Such an assertion can never be questioned, as recent events reaffirmed, and strengthened that validity. A rule-base ideology should be the interest of all people in a nation but, but not a selfish few taking people for a ride.
IMG_0526.JPGToday, there is no doubt, that globalization has shrunk the world, and the strong feel almost as vulnerable to the weak as the weak feel vulnerable to the strong. It is therefore the interest of The Gambia Government to respect justice and the rule of law. However, when the rule of law is revised, not properly applied and the legitimate interest of citizens are taken for a ride, Citizens become increasingly conscious and aware of realities eventually becoming the catalyst for not only change, but exposure of the domestic situation to the civilize world.

An example was in the country of Nepal when the voice of the people ended a self perpetuating leadership. After violent demonstrations that lasted for weeks, today MPs in Nepal unanimously “curtailed the powers of the King, including stripping him of control of the army”. This is a lesson for the Gambian administration to learn from, and therefore succumb to the voice of the people.

The lack of national security, repression and tyranny, corruption and Nepotism, poor leadership and mismanagement, and finally one of cultural division and distrust threatened the ruling APRC, bringing about more awareness and consciousness among the citizenry. Thanks to the two decades rule that the opposition has grown and continuing to grow. However as the opposition grew, we also continue to see some self-centered and greedy ones crossing over to the ruling APRC. Although we all have the fundamental right to belong to any political entity, we must do so with caution not forgetting the ideals of what constitutes a free society and good governance under a political entity entrusted with the responsibility of peddling the affairs or a nation.

Now that the by elections has proven the tarnishing image of the ruling APRC and citizens continual lost of confidence in its government, The opposition parties UDP/ NRP and NADD has a lot ridings to take on. It has become not only clear, that a united opposition will make the ruling regime history, but the UDP/ NRP coalition as a force to reckon. NADD must therefore accept that reality and join the coalition for the shake of salvaging the tiny West African state from sinking.

From now onwards, there should only be the need for us to engage the NADD leadership and not to divert their attention from Gambia’s political reality. National Interest must supersede personal ones and the critical situation of our dearest motherland should be a cause of concern for all political players in the country.

We therefore urge all opposition players to understand the fact that based on political analysis of the Gambian reality, the NADD leadership should put aside all their differences and join the UDP/NRP coalition They must accept the fact that UDP/NRP coalition is a force to reckon, and it is only with a united opposition, that dearest motherland can be peacefully salvaged from being trapped in oppression, poverty and misery .MAY GOD BLESS THE GAMBIA AND CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA.
