JAMMEH ACCUSES BRITAIN OF STEALING FROM
GAMBIANS!!!
Says British High Commission Stole D6, 000,000 From Visa Applicants
“YOU DON’T PREACH DEMOCRACY, WHEN YOU DON’T PROSECUTE WHITE MURDERERS,” JAMMEH ALLEGES
The British Home Office has been accused by Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh of “stealing several millions of dalasi” from Gambian visa applicants on an annual basis, after its High Commission in Banjul refused applicants visas without returning them their hard earned monies. The President said Britain lacks the moral authority to preach democracy to Africa including The impoverished Nation of The Gambia, when its own High Commission is “stealing” monies from Gambian citizens applying for visas. President Jammeh made this declaration Friday evening while addressing thousands of APRC supporters and militants at Ebo Town in the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) as part of his 2010 'Dialogue with the people tour',” the pro Government newspaper, the Daily Observer reported on its Monday July 26th Edition. Mr. Jammeh also lamented the growing number of Gambians being deported from the United Kingdom.
"What the West should do to Africa is to say thank you, and at least bring back 25 per cent of what they have looted from the continent and then they can talk about democracy. The British have nothing to tell me apart from thank you because what I did in 16 years in power, they have not done a quarter of it in 400 years. All the wealth they are enjoying today was stolen from Africa and Asia and they have been here for 400 years and not a single Gambian was in their parliament,"Jammeh said.
The President added “How many Gambians are being deported from Britain every month and they claim that there is no democracy, and they were stealing from us for 400 years; then why not they allow young Gambians to go and learn democracy in UK. I think now they have increased the visa fee to D6, 000 and if 1000 people apply for visa, out of that only 20 would be lucky to have it. So, is it that you are being refunded if you are denied a visa?”
According to The Gambian leader such visa denials without refund of people’s monies amounts to stealing. He said the British High Commission had stolen over D6,000,000 dalasi from Gambians on annual basis.
“Now if one thousand people apply for a visa costing each D6, 000, then they have stolen from you six million dalasis (D6, 000, 000) just to travel to the United Kingdom, is that democracy," he alleged.
According to the president “the white man is never taken to court in England for killing a Blackman.” He then asked: "Is that democracy? Equally in most western countries, they don't even border to investigate the cases of murdering a Blackman, do we call that a democracy?"
Mr. Jammeh’s theft allegations against Britain is the latest bashing of the West. He said his administration had been more developmental oriented compared to Gambia’s former colonial masters Britain, whom he accused of looting 25 percent of the nation’s resources. He asked Britain to return the stolen Gambian properties.
The Gambian President also claimed tha the Western media was created as “a propaganda machinery” to castigate Africans, saying, "they can say whatever they want but I will do what I want to do for the Gambian people and nobody can stop that".
The British High Commission in Banjul is yet to react to Jammeh’s allegations of visa fraud.
