Jammeh Pairs Saving “A Brother Drug Felon” To The Expense Of NDEA Staffers

Ben Jammeh Fired OC Camara And S/O Jarju For Jailing His brother Antonio Jammeh For Drug Trafficking

SOLICITOR GENERAL AND NDEA CHIEF EXPOSED!!!!

By Staff Reporter Malang Jammeh & Pa Nderry M’Bai

Ben Jammeh, the Director General of the National Drug Enforcement Agency, and his brother Pa Harry Jammeh, Solicitor General, have been engulfed in a “corruption, nepotism, and abuse of office” scandal, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. The Jammeh brothers are busy “obstructing justice, manufacturing evidence, and blackmailing”  hardworking members of the NDEA in a bid to settle old scores with anti narcotic agents, whose only perceived crime was facilitating the jailing of  their junior brother Antonio Jammeh, who was sentenced to three years in prison by a magistrate court in Banjul on drug trafficking related charges sometimes in March of this year.  Samba Juma Camara, officer commanding Sibanoor drug squad unit, and his station officer Jerry Jarju are the latest victims of Pa Harry and Ben Jammeh’s blackmailing schemes. The two had been dismissed from the Force with effect from Monday, for merely having the audacity to arrest, prosecute and jailed the “untouchable” Antonio Jammeh, a blood brother of the current Solicitor General Pa Harry Jammeh, highly placed sources in the heart of the Jammeh administration said.  Antonio was jailed for three years without an option of fine by a Nigerian Magistrate in Banjul sometime in March, sources said.

                   Facts Of The Case

Narrating the genesis of the case, our source said Pa Harry Jammeh, and Ben Jammeh harbored grudges against the two hardworking officers: Camara and Jarju,  following the jailing of their brother. Then, followed the appointment of Pa Harry as Solicitor General, and Ben as the NDEA DG, which was seen as a blessing for the pairs. They took over office with ulterior motives—primarily to witch hunt NDEA officers, who contributed to the jailing of their brother Antonio Jammeh.

Antonio Jammeh, who used to reside in the United Kingdom, shared the same “mother and father” with Pa Harry, while Ben Jammeh’s Dad, and that of Pa Harry’s father shared the same Dad, sources familiar with the case said. Therefore, one could read the biological trend here. It is a case of vengeance, retribution, and blackmailing straight up.

While Antonio’s case was pending in court, both Pa Harry and Ben Jammeh prevailed on the presiding magistrate to help set free their brother Antonio Jammeh,  who is a notorious drug dealer here in Banjul. The Nigerian magistrate whose hands were twisted told the Jammeh brothers that “the best he could do for them” is to sentence the accused to  three years in prison without an option of a fine.  Both Pa Harry and Ben welcomed the magistrate’s offer because there was no way that they could pay for a  half a million dalasi fine—given the current economic downturn, and the harsh laws associated with drug trafficking in this country. The two were also given the option to try their “luck” at the NDEA plea bargaining court, which is held at the NDEA headquarters in Banjul, to help secure Antonio’s release. The NDEA plea bargaining court is reputed to be corrupt, and is also an avenue, where drug dealers connived with corrupt lawyers such as Pa Harry, Lamin Jobarteh, Ben Jammeh and co to “kill” drug cases.

Antonio Jammeh was jailed few days before Ben Jammeh was appointed to replace Bun Sanneh. Ben perceived his comeback as an opportune moment to revenge, vilify, sack, arrest, and possibly jailed Samba Juma Camara, and his S/O Jarju. Mr. Jammeh was the least happy about the jailing of his brother Antonio Jammeh. This was the time for him to “setup” Camara and Jarju.

As he gradually settles down at the NDEA, where he doesn’t have a clue about narcotic administration, the first thing Ben does was to settle old scores with perceived “enemies” at the drug enforcement unit.  Ben Jammeh then assigned Superintendent Mowlut Faal of the Brikama police station drug squad unit to help investigate the “ corruption and drug trafficking” allegations against Juma Camara and Jarju. For the records, no one filed a complaint against the two officers, besides,  Ben Jammeh and his brother Pa Harry at the AG Chambers.

     Faal’s Findings Rejected

Following an intensive investigations, Superintendent Faal concluded that there was no evidence established to warrant the prosecution of Camara and Jarju,  sources here said. Accordingly, Mr. Faal recommended to Ben Jammeh to transfer OC Samba Juma Camara and S/O Jarju, but Ben became angry with  the outcome of the investigations. He then replaced Mr. Faal, with Mbye Njie, the NDEA operations Director.

In what appeared to be a “fishing expedition” Ben reassigned the case of Juma Camara and Jerry Jarju to Mbye Njie,  with a “handsome” promise that he would talk to the “big man” President Jammeh to get him a brand new car if he  (Mbye Njie) comes out  with a “positive” results at the end of his investigations. Positive results means to Ben:  to be able to come up with evidence to indict the officers concerned—be it credible, or manufactured evidence.

Ben Dismisses Faal From Cocaine Investigations

It would be recalled that Mowlut Faal  was part of the NIA investigating panel tasked with investigating the one billion dollar cocaine case. Unhappy with his previous assignment to handle the case of Juma and Jerry, Ben sacked Mowlut Faal  from the NIA panel. He said he doesn’t want to see any NDEA staffer at the said panel.  Ben then asked the Inspector General of police to  help provide him with two officers to serve in the NIA investigating panel, which led to the appointment of  one OC Sankareh, and Sergeant Sanneh, both from the police, said sources.  Mr. Faal had no alternative, but to report back to the Brikama police where he served as a drug squad Superintendent.

With the anticipation of securing a brand new car from the President through Ben Jammeh, operation Director Mbye Njie traveled to Foni Kusamai, where he intimidated “so called witnesses” to lie that Juma Camara and Jerry Jarju returned monies they received from they  (the drug dealers).  Statements were obtained from the villagers under duress—thanks to Mbye Njie, who forced them to lie against the detained officers, said our sources.

       Mbye Njie Fetching For Witnesses

Mbye Njie, went as far as trying to convince one Dodou Bojang, a drug squad agent at Sibanoor to volunteer a statement against Juma Camara, and Jerry Jarju, with a promise of promoting him to a higher rank. Mr. Bojang was very close to station officer Jarju, and his statement would help to beef up Ben Jammeh, and Pa Harry’s “blackmailing schemes” against these innocent officers, said our source. Dodou Bojang, in a statement made to the investigating officer Mbye Njie, claimed that he was ordered by S/O Jerry Jarju to throw cannabis exhibits into the toilet.

Mr. Njie returned to Banjul with the “manufactured” evidence. Although, Ben honored his promise of securing him a new car. Mr. Njie received a brand new brown car from the President’s office, which he now drives around town.

OC Camara/SO Jarju, Interdicted, Then Fired!

About a week ago, Juma Camara and Jerry Jarju, both of whom had a long standing  excellent services with the police force, received their interdiction letters.  They were informed in the said letters that they were being suspended from the force, pending the criminal case brought against them by the NDEA chief Ben Jammeh, even though no charges have been filed against the accused persons up to the time of filing this story. They have been detained for over a month without having access to their families,  and lawyers, sources said.

The accused persons have been detained in different locations: one is at Bakau, and the other is at Yundum, said our source. One of the accused persons was briefly held at the NDEA Brushibi station before being moved to  Yundum, our source said.

It was on Monday that they received letters informing them that their services with the National Drug Enforcement Agency had been terminated.  Ben Jammeh and Pa Harry ignored the police code of conduct, which states that “ all serving members of the police force accused of criminal offence” would be subjected to an interdiction” or suspension until the courts decide their fate. Both Pa Harry and Ben had been using the President’s name and in some occasions interfering with judicial proceedings, pending criminal cases, and matters pertaining the judiciary, sources told the Freedom Newspaper.

The case of Juma Camara and Jerry Jarju is a height of “social and political” injustice, said our source. The source called on President Jammeh to use his good offices and help restore decorum in the NDEA, adding that this was a clear case of “blatant” injustice. The source said Antonio Jammeh has long been an “untouchable” drug dealer in the Fonis and its surrounding areas, thanks to the backing he received from brothers: Pa Harry and Ben Jammeh—because both men occupied influential positions in Government.

Efforts to reach Ben Jammeh and Solicitor General Pa Harry Jammeh for comments proved futile at press time. Both men were indisposed for comments.
