The BBC World service would be airing a feature programme on Gambia this Thursday. The programme, called Assignment, picks a topic each week bringing to light the different shapes of opinion on the given topic in a given country. According to daily teasers currently being aired by the BBC, Thursday's Assignment is on Gambia and specifically on Jammeh's claim to have discovered a cure for Aids. The programme takes air at 9.15 am GMT.

The mentally challenged Gambian leader claimed in a televised address two years ago that he had the mandate from his demons to cure HIV, the virus that Scientists say cause aids.  Dr. Jammeh’s false aids cure claim was backed by his former Health Minister Dr. Tamsir Mbowe, who claimed that the President had successfully treated HIV aids sufferers in the impoverished West African country.  Mbowe, a Russian trained Gynecologist said some of HIV infected patients were tested negative after receiving the Presidential treatment.

From aids cure, The Gambian leader shifted his treatment program to curing women who can have babies. Mr. Jammeh claimed to have registered a significant achievement in his “infertility treatment program.”

President Jammeh prides himself as an true Panafricanist, a herbalist, and witch doctor.  In 2009, Jammeh embarked on a witch hunting exercise. His hired Guinean witch hunters seized over one thousand villages—in different parts of the country. Some villagers died due to the spiritual medication administered on them.
