IS THE PPP DIVIDED?
Recently, we learned that some PPP big wigs have joined the UDP/NRP alliance. It is now getting to two weeks and there is no official reaction from the PPP Secretariat. If these reports are to go by then, OJ is being abandoned by his colleagues in the struggle. Well, some said such reports were being peddled by certain UDP fans bent on selling Darboe’s image. Is this true? To an extent of issuing public statements. We read the said statement issued by the US based UDP wing. Our brother Saihou Mballow was said to be at the centre of such political announcements. We respect Mballow and we do not think that he will engage in political black mail.
Current political indications also suggested that the likes of Lamin Kitti Jabang had boarded the APRC train. Jabang told us that the State House was his second home and he sees Jammeh anytime he wanted. Chei!!!! What does OJ and others make out of Lamin’s pronouncements? The same Lamin Kitti Jabang had his confiscated assets returned to him. The UDP US wing claims seem to be true to some extent in view of the news on Kitti Jabang’s recent change of political heart.
We also learned that some PPP big wigs also attended the Brikama rally. What is going on? Is this another “Jangfa” or betrayal if you like against the PPP? OJ alone cannot run that party. The PPP need to clear the air at this hour. People are confused about who is who in the PPP. Yahya Ceesay, too is said to be supporting the UDP/NRP alliance. An interesting time in The Gambia.
THE SIR DAWDA FACTOR!!!
It is also reported that the old man is influencing some of the PPP old guard to reconcile with Yahya. We have no problem with reconciliation, but it should be based on truth. Jammeh, wronged these people including Sir Dawda. He Jammeh, should seek for forgiveness and not the likes of Koto Lamin Kitti Jabang. These people are making themselves too low in the eyes of The Gambian community.
There is no need to mortgage the PPP for one’s selfish interest. We do know that their are other PPP big wigs to follow in days to come to join the APRC. They want their assets back and Jammeh will throw the bait to catch them. The PPP is now divided into three camps. One, the OJ camp, the UDP camp and the Jammeh camp. Even though the party is no longer commanding strong followings in the country, these developments is bound to affect NADD directly or indirectly.
There is need for Darboe, Halifa, Hamat, OJ and Waa to seat on the drawing board once again to iron out their political differences. The APRC must be jubilating now.Their wished for NADD disintegration had materialized partially. NADD should put its house in order, if they want to remove Jammeh come the October 2006 polls.
