Breaking News:Has Jammeh finally divorces First Lady Zeinab Suma Jammeh? State House sources say Zeinab will not attend the AU Summit!!! Breaking News:Has Jammeh finally divorces First Lady Zeinab Suma Jammeh? State House sources say Zeinab will not attend the AU Summit!!!

It appears that Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh will not be accompanied
by his first Lady Zeinab Suma Jammeh to the much talked about African Union Summit,
scheduled to take place in Banjul on July 1ST and 2ND, as State House
insiders hinted about the final collapse of his marriage with the
Moroccan woman. State House sources have it that the first lady had
finally been divorced by Jammeh after months of "strained relationship"
between the two couples. Initially, the Gambian leader refuses to grant
the first lady divorce despite numerous demands.
Ndeysan Zeinab is gone. Very sad for a ruthless dictator.
The whole
problem between Jammeh and Zeinab started when the Kanilai former
wrestler started seeing a Banjul lady called Amina Cole. The
President's late night outings and lack of attention to the First Lady
seems to have triggered the matrimonial failure. Zeinab said our source
usually confronts Jammeh each time he Jammeh returns from his "unusual
late night outing." The First Lady who could not withstand what state
house sources called "Jammeh's open cheating and provocation" thought
it imperative to demand divorce from Jammeh. The two continued our
source "had been quarreling off late" and refused to heed to
interventions made by the Vice President and Amadou Samba. All attempts
to bring sanity into their troubled matrimonial home proved futile, as
Zeinab said "enough is enough."
The Freedom Newspaper, first
broke the story on Zeinab's attempts to divorce Jammeh and Mr.Jammeh's
unofficial Banjul new wife. At the hills of her matrimonial troubles,
the First lady left the State House under the escort of the Vice
President Isatou Njie Saidy and some protocol officers. The news of
Jammeh's new wife was communicated to her parents in Morocco by the
delegation. They also informed Zienab's parents about the problem
revolving Zeinab's unstable marriage with Jammeh and the need for the
elders to intervene. But Zeinab still remains adamant on her stance to
let Jammeh go for now.
The Gambia is a secular state, where
polygamous marriage is practiced. Men can marry as many as four wives,
if they can sustain the financial burden of such a huge and demanding
responsibility. Beside the health implications of such a common
practice, men folks are still engaged in the practice. Medical Scientists often blamed such a practice to the spread of HIV, the virus that causes aids. But those engaged in polygamous marriage used Islam and cultural tradition to justify such a move. They argued that as far as such couples remained faithful to one another, they are saved from HIV/AIDS.
Insider
at the State House said the First lady was informed about Jammeh's
unofficial Banjul wife by a close associate of the President. The
associate said our source is assigned to the First Lady and he the
associate thought that it was "unfair for the Presidency to hide such
a marriage" to the Moroccan First Lady.
The Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy was said to have prevailed on Zeinab to cool down and stay but the Moroccan lady said it was time to leave the State House. Jammeh we gathered, is very upset these days. Despite his new relationship with madam Amina Cole, he is finding life difficult these days, following his breakaway with Zeinab. Zeinab and Jammeh had a baby girl, who was born in the US four years ago. Since then, the Gambian leader is not fortunate to get a child. This is also partly blamed for the strained materimonial problem. While Zeinab wants a baby, Jammeh is finding it difficult to produce one. Critics of the President blamed Jammeh's inability to get a child to his "wild set of Jujus" or chams if you like. This according to the critics will to some extent block him from getting a child.
It would be recalled
that the President's first marriage with Tututi Faal failed as a result
of lack of trust. Jammeh according to sources was in the habit of
accusing Tuti of going out with some state guard soldiers assigned to
her. The Freedom Newspaper had the list of soldiers Jammeh accused in
the past of messing with his woman. Tuti Faal who is believed to be in
the Islamic Republic of Mauritania at the moment had always denied
Jammeh's allegations. While it is a known fact that Tuti was a close
buddy of these soldiers, she also succeeded in eliciting information
from the soldiers about Jammeh's "dubious and cheating games." Jammeh
initial plan to marry a Sintet girl, was leaked thanks to these "loyal soldiers" of Tuti. He later changed his mind after knowing that Tutu was set to
go if he was to carry out his marriage plan. Interesting, isn't it? While Jammeh
is using the NIA to spy at others, his own former wives are also spying
at him.
The State House official, we spoke to yesterday said
all efforts made to bring the two couples together fell into deaf ears.
Zeinaba we are told has finally made up her mind on Jammeh. Perhaps,
the Second First Lady Amina Cole will accompany him to the AU Summit.
