JUSTICE MINISTER’S WIFE ATTACKS FREEDOM NEWSPAPER STAFFERS AT AN APRC LAMIN RALLY!
“DO NOT LISTEN TO FREEDOM RADIO.”
Tina Faal, a nominated Member of the National Assembly, and also the wife of Gambia’s Justice Minister Edward Gomez, speaking at an APRC rally in Lamin during the weekend launched a personal attack against the Editor of the Freedom Newspaper Pa Nderry M’Bai, and his staffers—accusing them of trying to incite hatred, and dissatisfaction against the Jammeh administration. The nominated Parliamentarian branded the Freedom Newspaper staffers as bunch of unpatriotic Gambians bent on destroying the image of the country through what she calls their “lies and hateful” negative press coverage against the Government of The Gambia.
Mrs. Tina Faal publicly called out Pa Nderry M’Bai saying that Mr. M’Bai has an agenda, which she said, is aimed at “brainwashing” vulnerable Gambian youths through his Freedom Radio by portraying President Jammeh as a villain, who doesn’t have the country’s interest at heart, including the youth population.
The Justice Minister’s fuming wife claimed that Mr. M’Bai, like other exiles residing overseas are bent on smearing the image of the President, and the country.
“ Pa Nderry M’Bai, and his Freedom Newspaper staffers are bent on undermining the image of this country. These are bunch of unpatriotic Gambians, who are trying to incite our youths to be rebellious against President Jammeh, and his Government. This is evident on their hateful and negative media propaganda to win the hearts, and minds of Gambian youths. These people will never come back to this country, and that’s why they are spreading hate against the Government,” said Tina Faal, who was televised live on state television GRTS on Saturday.
“ I’m calling on parents to restrain their kids from visiting the pages of Freedom Newspaper/Freedom Radio on Facebook. This medium is against the interest of the country. Pa Nderry in particular, and his group are busy trying to indoctrinate our youths to be hateful against the Government. Freedom Radio is reporting baseless, and false commentaries against the President and his administration. If they are brave as they claimed to be, why can’t they come back home, and engage the Government,” she posited.
The nominated MP admits that many youths listened to Freedom Radio in The Gambia. She warns against youths listening to a news medium she calls anti Government, and enmy of The Gambia.
On Sunday, the Freedom Editor received numerous phone calls from Gambians within, and outside the country drawing his attention to Tina Faal’s remarks against his news medium. The callers said the nominated MP couldn’t hide her frustrations against the Freedom Newspaper, and radio.
“ The regime is increasingly worried about Freedom Newspaper/Freedom Radio’s growing audience. It’s blaming the media institution for its lack of popularity in the country,” said our source.
“A good number people here listen to Freedom Radio, and are beginning to know how mischievous President Jammeh, and his Government is. You will be hearing more of such desperate attacks coming from the ruling APRC. Do not be surprised if President Jammeh himself confines his campaign theme on Freedom Newspaper, and Freedom Radio. Your medium is giving the regime tough time! People no longer trust President Jammeh, and the APRC. That’s the reality.”
