Yahya Jammeh Makes “False US Trip Announcement On GRTS.”
Gambia’s mentally unstable leader Yahya Jammeh is trying to test the country’s security waters by making a false announcement on state media that he is scheduled to travel to the United States today Thursday. The newscast did not disclose the purpose of Jammeh’s US trip. It merely states that Jammeh will be leaving Banjul in the early hours of Thursday morning for Washington DC.
The announcement followed criticism made by a Freedom Radio talk-show commentator who argued that Mr. Jammeh is virtually a prisoner since he is afraid to travel overseas for fear of being toppled by the military. That Jammeh lacks legitimacy to rule the Gambia and he is also employing force to subdue oppressed Gambians.
Gambians both at home and abroad are praying that Jammeh’s US trip materializes—so that he would be declared “unwelcomed into the country” if he ever leaves Banjul. Jammeh’s removal is justified by any means necessary, said a concerned Gambian.
“ If this man is toppled today, Gambians will rejoice. Jammeh is a stumbling block against peace, stability, and freedom. May he not come back if he ever leaves the State House. We seriously doubt if he will ever leave this country. Across the country, everyone wants to see this mad dog of Africa go. I promise you that Jammeh dares leave Gambia at this hour,” said our source.
“ I do know that he is working on framing some security chiefs. This announcement sounds like a decoy to me. Jammeh is not going anywhere. Just watch!”
Another source said: “ Yahya Jammeh is just bluffing. He dares leave Gambia. We do not need the military to takeover. Citizens of this country will seize power through popular revolution. No army, police, or NIA can stop us. We are praying that he leaves this country. This is no threat. We are dead serious about taking over.”
In another development, the First Lady Zeinab Suma Jammeh has been in the US since last week. She is here with the family. Mr. Jammeh is likely to join them in the US today.
