Jammeh Bills Angolan Head of State!
Luanda – The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, on Monday was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of Gambian president-elect Yahya Jemus Jammeh, scheduled for 19 January.
The invitation comes on a letter handed last Monday by Gambia’s minister of Trade and Industry, Abdou Kolley, in his capacity as special envoy, to the Angolan minister of Welfare and Social Reintegration, João Baptista Kussumua, who was in the airport welcoming the visitor.
Speaking to the press, the Gambian official stated that “the invitation is the reflex of the excellent state of the bilateral relations between Angolan and Gambia”.
According to Abdou Kolley, the letter also serves to convey to President José Eduardo dos Santos the wish expressed by yahya Jammeh to see the elections in Angola, scheduled for this year, taking place without setbacks.
During the audience, which lasted about 30 minutes, the two officials also discussed the situation of the Gambian community in Angola, having João Baptista Kussumua guaranteed that the Gambians who reside in Angola live in perfect harmony with Angolans.
Yahya Jemus Jammeh, 46, was re-elected, for the fourth time, with 72 percent of the votes for another five-year term.
