Press Release: STGDP has elected a new Executive for 2012!
In accordance with the organizational by-laws, the general membership of Save the Gambia Democracy Project (STGDP) elected a Management Committee to run the affairs of the organization for the next two years on Saturday January 21, 2012.
The Management Committee comprises of six officials as: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary General, Public Relations Officer, Treasurer, and Political Strategist At-large. Listed below are the newly elected Management Committee members:Banka Manneh of Atlanta Metro Area (Georgia, USA) was elected to extend his term as Chairman of STGDP. Banka's relentless demeanor and hard work, commitment and top notch leadership has proven to be a tremendous asset for the organization. As Chairman of STGDP, Banka has proven to be an icon in the task of restoring meaningful democracy in Gambia. With his leadership style, has succeeded in building tactful relationships with other Gambian organizations around the world. Abdoulie Jallow – (BambaLaye) – of Nashville Metro Area (Tennessee, USA) was elected Vice Chairman. Abdoulie is a founding member of STGDP. He is extremely creative, innovative and committed to the efforts of organization over the years.
Christine Sukuna of Wisconsin was elected to extend her term as Secretary General of the organization. Over the years since the founding of STGDP, Christine has proven to be the darling of the general membership. In her relentless role as a source of energy and inspirational optimism, she has managed to constantly and single-handedly grease the wheels of the organization for a smooth ride through the difficulties.
Pa Samba Jow –( Coach )– of Washington DC Metro Area was elected Treasurer. Pa Samba as a founding member and well known political activist will continue to make Gambia proud and the general.As Treasurer he will preside over the financial affairs of the organization. Sigga Jagne of Kentucky was elected Public Relations Officer. Sigga, a long time founding member of STGDP has been constantly energetic, reliable and innovative in her approach. As a master organizer and communicator, Sigga has proven over the years, to be an invaluable asset in keeping STGDP in the forefront. Musa Jeng of Atlanta Metro Area (Georgia, USA) was elected to extend his term as Political Strategist At-large. Musa,a bane of resilience for the organization since its founding. Has in-depth observations and is a critical thinker.The Mandate of the new Management Committee will expire on December 31, 2013. We wish them success in their role.
Our sincere gratitude and special thanks go to Dr.Abdoulaye Saine for presiding over the elections process. Dr. Saine has continued to support the ideals of the organization as one of the founders.
The new Executive wishes to thank everyone for your support of our past initiatives and we will ask for your continued support in tackling the objectives of seeing a democratic society exist in the Gambia.
