What Gambians Need to know About Ministry Of Health
By An Insider Banjul
Pa,
Let the President Yaya Jammeh know that the steps he is taking in addressing the problems at Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) is not the appropriate one. Prior to resolving the nursing staff where are the Board Members. The Questions are:
1. Who is the Board chairman?
2. How frequent do they meet?
3. Who implements the recommendations from the meetings?
4. Are the staff given the resources they required
5. What’s the level of politics at the hospital?
6. Which tribe hold the key positions?
The board chairperson, if not making mistake, although stand to be corrected is Dr. Samba. Can Yaya Jammeh find out the relationship between Dr. Samba and Mustapha Njie of Taf Construction, if he is able to establish that, then he can establish facts. Yaya! you think people are fools my dear you are the biggest fool.
Yaya Jammeh leave Health to Health workers and meet all their demands as requested. Do you know that there are health facilities without adequate water supply, erratic electricity supply and sub standard drug (Egyptian drugs)?
Do you remember the Chinese medical team in the Gambia? Before you took over, the team were constructing complex (staff quarters), providing standard drugs and an excellent expertise, that has significantly cut down government spending on Health and has improved health across the Country and beyond. Yaya Jammeh go back to the Chinese for Health, agriculture, communication (Road) and Energy (Electricity, stop being a fool.
Look at your world Bank project the PHPNP go up Country and see for yourself the poor nature of the structure they built and are still unfinished coming to 15 years. Go around and have a look at ADB funded structures. Mr. Jammeh do you think Health is your priority, YOU ARE A FOOL!
I am suggesting to MOH to create more training for their so – called second line Nurses (SENs and CHNs), Although it seem as if the Ministry of Health is training SENs for MRC, why not you invest more on Ancillary (Auxiliary) Nurses and CHNs than SENs. School of Public Health should hold – on their training, the attrition rate amongst them is almost Zero despite their large numbers not much is being done to improve on the livelihood of the Gambians.
