Following his reshuffling of the entire Cabinet as mandated by
the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia, President Yahya Jammeh, acting under the provisions of his powers vested on him by section 71, 73, 71 (3) and 71 (3) respectively of the Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia has effected the following Cabinet Appointments, Dr. Momodou Tangara Minister of Foreign Affairs International Cooperation’s and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Abdou Kolley Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, Hon. The first three lucky Ministers, who were earlier reinstated by the Incumbent, were Hon. Mambury Njie Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Ousman Sonko Minister of Interior, responsible for NGO Affairs and Hon. Fatou Mass Jobe minister of Tourism and Culture.
It is clear that there are host of unnamed Ministers who are yet to be called by the President and be reinstated to their former positions as we speak at the moment, while rumors are spreading wild that most of the former ministers may not be invited back to the Cabinet.
Readers would recall that the President of the Republic of the Gambia was re- elected by the electorates of the Gambia on the 24th of November 2011 on Thursday. It is a Constitutional Provision that after every Presidential election, the victor shall be constitutionally sworn in before assuming office by the Chief Justice of the Republic of the Gambia which is backed by section 63 Sub- Section (4) of the 1997 Constitution.
Freedom Newspaper will update her readers about the new appointments and the reinstatements.
