State House sources have hinted about a strained relationship between the President and Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay. Sources indicated that FJC is no longer having good relationship with the President, even though she tried on many occasions to impress Jammeh. The circumstances surrounding their strained relationship is not yet clear, but insiders at the State House in Banjul, says the two are now strange bed fellows.
Our sources say FJC, is now sidelined by the head of state on party activities. It is reported that the President lost faith in FJC, who according to sources reportedly misrepresented Jammeh during a recent political rally organized by the APRC.
Sources went as far quoting the President of having said that the likes of FJC will be fired when he Jammeh succeeded in winning the October polls. It would be recalled that FJC was fired from her state House Press Director post some years ago. It was not easy for her to voluntarily leave her office. She was later bundled up by the state guards to leave that office after been told that the President was done with her. She was later named as nominated Member of Parliament, following a plea bargaining entered on her behalf by the jailed Jarra MP Baba K Jobe.
Shortly after the imprisonment of Baba, FJC was quoted as saying that “with or without Baba Jobe, the APRC was here to stay“ The Freedom Newspaper also gathered that FJC was not in good terms with Yankuba Touray.
Sources say the President might have acted on information furnished to him by Yanks on Fatou’s role to undermine the party. The APRC is said to be faced with internal in fighting amongst its officials. Attempts made by our reporter to reach FJC for comments proved futile. APRC big wigs who wished not to be named confirmed that FJC was not in good terms with the President.
