Dear Sirs,
Thank you for your publication which
provides valuable information on what is happening in The Gambia. I love that country and have spent much time
there, involved with a church and a clinic..
I am very concerned about the fate
of my friend Vincent Jatta who I have met a number of times over the last six
years. The latest news that I have is
that he is in prison on charges of treason and conspiracy and could face the death
sentence.
Do you have any later news? What about his wife and children. It is very difficult to find any accurate
news from England. I have already written to the President
directly about him but is there anything else you think I might be able to do
to help my good friend.

situation, all what you need to do is to mount more pressure on the
Jammeh government to produce the body of Vincent Jatta. The regime in
Banjul is in the habit of mistreating detainees and latest information
reaching us speaks of brutal torture inflicted on the detained coup
suspects. Publishing the letter you sent to Jammeh online will also
help to expose the regime.Feel free to send the letter to us for public
consumption. As it stands, there is a rule of law crisis in the Gambia.
The detainees rights and liberties are constantly infringed with impunity by the
authorities. They are denied access to their families and
lawyers. As Church leaders, we will urge you to pray for the Gambia, as
dictator Jammeh is posed to set the country ablaze in days to come. The
future of this West African country remains bleak as long as Jammeh
continues to rule that impoverished nation. Once again, thanks for
