About the 8 Senegalese’s Soldiers Released By The MFDC

By A Senegambian Expert

Pa,

I know lot of Gambians are worried about the recent development on the release of the Senegalese soldiers, but please let me make these assertions.

1- Macky Sall and the government of Senegal are very well aware about Jammeh's hypocritical maneuvers.

2- Why are the soldiers handed over to Jammeh and not Senegalese authorities directly?, how did they get to Banjul or rather were they in Gambia all along and only brought to Casamance to show them to the Red Cross? What role did Yaya play in the arrest of these soldiers? Pa there so many questions the government of Senegal ask themselves and I can tell you they are the least happy about Jammeh.

3- I can confirm that up till today Yaya did not speak to Macky one on one on the phone about anything. It is the Minister of External affairs Mr. Mankeur Njie who mediates between the two governments.

4- Salif Sadio made it quite clear on RFM radio that they will not abandon the demand for independence, that this gesture is just to show there good will on the ongoing negotiations.

5-The Senegalese media are still pounding critical remarks on Jammeh and the Senegalese Minster of External Affairs mockingly mentioned all the long titles of Sheikh Professor Doctor Yaya A JJ Jammeh in their official statement.

6- They know Jammeh is liar and the Farafeny bridge construction is a case in point.

Pa I can assure you that nothing has changed on Senegal’s position with regards Jammeh and the ultimate objective of Senegal is for Jammeh to go. Jammeh is part of the problem and cannot be part of the solution and this is officially well understood by Senegal.

Senegal has a young and smart leadership and they are not moved by a despot who lied and fought against Senegal's interests for the past 18 years.

You can tell Gambians to relax and continue the struggle against Jammeh, Senegal is on their side.
