on Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy- Is she trying use the army to kill
our sons as she did on the April 10 student massacre?
VP Njie Saidy is a "sellout" who could sell her soul for money and position- She is an enemy of the Gambia and her people!!!
EDITORIAL
Gambia's
Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy, was one of those who said our kids
killed themselves, when armed soldiers fired live bullets at student
demonstrators on April 10and 11 200. This was Gambia's darkest day in
the chapter of our country's calendar. The lying Vice President also
claimed that the kids broke into police armories to loot and shot at
their fellow students. The same Isatou Njie Saidy is today visiting
army barracks across the West African country ahead of the country's
September Presidential Elections. Many local observers believed that
the VP is trying to convey a message from her boss Jammeh to the army
to kill anybody bent on "disturbing the so called fragile peace" now
towards the elections. The same observers also believed that the state
is trying to politicize the divided army, as loyalty is a rear thing to
come by today in the Gambian military. The military is as pissed off
just like the civilian community. Their job security and better
incentives is not guaranteed under Jammeh's watch, in view of the
growing political and economic uncertainties hitting our country.
Isatou Njie Saidy is a vicious woman who is aiding and abetting the
Jammeh dictatorship. Madam Njie Saidy lost the respect and admiration
of some of us, when she made her callous statements against our
oppressed and murdered sons and daughters.

Pa Nderry M'Bai, Freedom Newspaper, Managing Editor cum Publisher
We worked with the
Vice President's husband at the Point Newspaper. The late Jai Saidy
edited our pieces and was all the time opposed to the type of oppression Jammeh is
exposing Gambians to. Our colleague Jai Saidy, must be shocked at his
grave yard at this hour. This was not the type of legacy he wanted to
leave behind. That his wife is shamelessly supporting a dictatorship
destroying the fabric of society in our country. Madam Vice President
should think twice, as her actions will no doubt hunt her when the
system finally crumble down. After all, does it worth it for Isatou
Njie Saidy to mortgage her integrity for money and position? A lady who
should have served as role model for our neglected and marginalized
women folks is today making last minute rushes to seek for Jammeh's
re-election. Isatou risked being remembered as one of those who sold
their souls for money and position. She lacked the moral authority to
preach political decency to Gambians, when she connived with the likes
of Ousman Badjie, former Interior Minister, Ann Therese Ndong Jatta,
former Education Minister and others to lie against our death kids. We as Gambians
will never forget about the lies these individuals peddled against our
loved ones.
Madam Njie Saidy, should bear in mind that she had
sons and daughters. As we piece this editorial, one of her sons is
residing in Seattle Washington here in the United States. We are pretty
sure that Isatou's son is not in support of what is happening in our
country today. He wants a Gambia free of despotism and one man rule.
Isatou should think twice and ask herself if her own son was declared
wanted just like the editors of this leading paper. How will she feels
if her own son was denied visiting or getting closer to his own country
of birth? What happens if her own family were harassed, tortured and
killed by the government she is trying to defend? Come on... Madam Njie
Saidy, stop the double standards and face the realities of the day.
Dishonest and so called intellectuals like your caliber are
responsible for the predicaments Gambians found themselves today. As
for the VP she entertains the notion that as long as her immediate
families are not affected by the system, she don't care about the wellbeing of the majority of the Gambian population. This is totally unfair
and outrageous.
Madam Vice President, remember that what goes
around, comes around. The very system you are busy selling its image is
today crumbling. We are pretty sure you wouldn't like to be treated
like Jammeh's own Uncle Abdoulie Kujabi, Foday Barry, Baba Saho, Ngorr
Secka, Vincent Jatta and other former government officials who had
fallen out with Jammeh. All the above named former public officials
were at one time or the other in Jammeh's good books. You don't mean
to tell us that Jammeh will love you more than his own blood relative
Abdoulie Kujabi? Madam Vice President, you are serving the wrong
person. Behave yourself to be respected by Gambians who looked up to
you as a mother.
Sometimes, we feel baffled by the likes of
Isatou Njie Saidy's empty rantings on the need to defend the so called
revolution. Isatou is a stranger within the so called revolutionists
after all. If Edward Singhateh, a pioneer of the July 22ND coup can
play low profile at this hour, what is stopping the Vice President from
following suit? A stranger is always a stranger no matter what. Not
that Edward do not want to serve Jammeh, but he realizes that the
regime had deviated from all what it preaches when they came through
illegal means 12 years ago. Resigning from office at this hour could
cost him his life, but right from the bottom of his heart Edward will
tell you that the APRC under Jammeh had fail. Edward will never
waste his time running after the likes of the Vice President. The man
is just there waiting for Jammeh's red card, but he lost faith in the
system. He has all rights to play it cool at this hour. When a nation
reaches time of uncertainties, intelligent people took their
positions. Some speak out against oppressive moves, while others within
the system who are pissed off chose the silence syndrome. This is
exactly what Edward is doing. The likes of Edu will never join Jammeh
on his vilification and intimidation attempts against the opposition.
They tried on numerous attempts to paint the man's image with the sole
aim of destroying him as they did to Baba Jobe, but they failed in the
dubious attempts. Jammeh
is worse than these people he is trying to frame at this hour. He is an
international criminal who should be brought to book.
Admitted,
Edward to some extent stands to be accused of conspiracy since he
continually served a despotic government, even though he
has all rights to call it quits. The man too will be questioned if
there is a regime change, as he needs to clear his name on some of the
alleged crimes he is associated with. This is why people with conscience
resigned from Jammeh's government to avoid being further stained. A
classical example was the former Police Deputy Inspector General Abou
Njie. Mr.Njie calls it quits when he knew that he could not work with
the sellout IGP Ousman Sonko. Sonko is a novice who is ignorant of
basic police duties. Here is an IGP, who was picked from the army to head the
police. Sonko cannot read or interpret the police Criminal Code hand
book, which is often used as a reference by officers of the Force. The
man needs to be trained on police duties. But in today's Gambia, as long
as you can lie you win the confidence of our mistaken President Yahya
Jammeh. Jammeh himself is not qualified as a President. No wonder that
is why he is appointing square pegs in round holes all the time. That he don't hire qualified people for the job. Jammeh is worse than these people he is trying to
frame at this hour.
Madam Njie Saidy could as well suffer like
Jammeh when there is regime change in The Gambia. Bereaved families
will no doubt ask her to provide evidence that the students killed
themselves. Isatou is one of those used by Jammeh for his dirty games
against our people. Despite her lies that the kids killed themselves,
the same Vice President was used by Jammeh to hand over envelops with
token amount of money to the families of the murdered kids. I was at
the home of the late Malanding Barrow's house in Latrikunda Yerri
Nyanga, when Isatou Njie Saidy together with a government delegation
came there to sympathize with the bereaved family. Sadly and
interestingly, the Vice President who said the kids killed themselves
shed tears while handing over the envelope to journalist Omar Barrow's
father. They sat there talking blues that the government was going to
bring the perpetrators to book, only to indemnify the killers of our
sons and daughters. Little did Isatou Njie Saidy know that this Editor
is part of the Barrow family which she came to sympathize at that
hour. The late Omar Barrow was not only a friend, but a true brother.
His mum was in charge of my life together with my parents. She
contributed immensely to towards my life. We would be ungrateful if we
fail to acknowledge the woman's efforts to take care of us as a mother.
President Jammeh wronged me in many ways. He killed my mentor
Deyda Hydara and brother Omar Barrow. In addition, he abused my
fundamental human rights and liberties as a person. I suffered numerous
arrests and unfinished persecution from the hands of his hit men. I
could have been equally killed just like Hydara, Barrow and other
Gambians who put their lives on the line for Gambia's emancipation from
Jammeh's despotism. We will never give up the struggle, as we are
committed to what we are doing. We are not here to make a name as bandit
by our detractors. We love the Gambia and her people. We will be doing
disservice to Gambians and our noble profession if we remain mute on
the ongoing political and human rights crisis taking place in the
Gambia.
To some of you complaining about Pa Nderry's
opposition to the APRC should understand that there is nothing wrong to
expose evils committed by a dictator like Jammeh. You don't expect me
to like Jammeh when he abused my rights as a citizen. He also killed my
own brother Omar Barrow and mentor Deyda Hydara. Some of you opposing
our struggle for just and democratic Gambia will begin to be convinced
when Jammeh started touching your loved ones. As patriotic sons of
this soil, we cannot watch by allowing Jammeh killing our innocent
people. History will judge us for failing to speak out. We don't mind
how the Vice President and her fellow blood thirsty accomplices
perceive us. We prefer to speak the truth than to aid and abet a
dictatorship.
The Gambia is a small country, where people are
interrelated. Jammeh is creating more enemies than friends. We have no
problem with him when he is running the country with fairness. We are
opposed to his divide and rule tactics. We are opposed to his ceaseless
killing spree against the voices of dissent. We are opposed to his
attempts to make the Gambia a one party state. We are opposed to his
moves to make the Gambia, a country without an independent media. We
are also opposed to his move to undermine the judiciary, which is the
country's last hope. The earlier, the likes of Isatou Njie Saidy stop
being used by Jammeh for his vicious activities, the better it will be.
Isatou Njie Saidy is a disgrace to our country's women folks. She
betrayed the nation. Shames on this lady. The Gambia don't need such
self centred and dishonest so called women rights activists. She is
instead undermining women rights and child rights. Period.
