everal thousands of jubilant NADD supporters converged in the town of Brikama Saturday to welcome their party leader Halifa Sallah. The unprecedented crowd, which is said to be the first of its kind in Gambia’s body politics keenly listened to leaders who said their coming together was intended to effect meaningful change of political leadership in the West African country.
Gambia’s firebrand politician Lamin Waa Juwara , who was received a rousing welcome by the jubilant crowd picked on the NRP/UDP coalition describing it as a joke. Popularly known as Mbarodi, Waa told the crowd that the NRP/UDP coalition is not a threat to NADD, which he says the leading political grouping in the country.
Waa says he was the driving force behind the UDP and as such NADD cannot be moved by such a hastily formed alliance. He says NADD’S doors are opened to anybody interested in associating himself with the coalition. While he strongly lambasted Bah and Darboe, Waa also urged the speaker of the National Assembly Sheriff Mustapha Dibba to join NADD as the wind of change was blowing.
