G
ood morning, Mr. President, there is no doubt in our mind that the coup you and your colleagues initiated against the Jawara government was not justifiable at all. It was Yahya Jammeh, who branded the former PPP government as a bunch of greedy, corrupt and unpatriotic Gambians. The same Yahya Jammeh, is today seeking helping hands from the old guards.
Mr. President, the mere fact that you welcomed the likes of Lamin Kitti Jabang into your administration goes to show that you have failed as a leader. Now that you are short of people to hire, you want to turn your back to the very people you accused of graft and maladministration. This is an interesting state of affairs.
Mr. President, the likes of Edward Singhateh, Yankuba Touray, Fatou Jahumpa Ceesay, Saja Taal and other anti PPP APRC stalwarts must be embarrassed today by the dramatic turn of political events unfolding in our dear country. These folks have branded the PPP, all kinds of names in recent years, including your very self. Your reconciliation with the old guards is dividing the APRC, so we learned. It is reported that Edward and Yanks are unhappy about your devil game politics. The two will not come out in the open, but what is clear is that the two had not hidden their opposition to the PPP joining the APRC.
Sadly, Edward and Yanks were raised by the PPP. Sara Jangha contributed immensely in improving the lives of the Singhateh’s, but today Edward is not keen at seeing these folks eye to an eye. Yanks too was helped by Mami Minteh’s dad, after he could not get an host in Banjul, during his high school days. Thanks to Sheriff Dibba, Mami’s father decided to host the poor boy from Nawralu. It is good to reconcile, but it should be based on truth.
Military interventions had never been justified and they will never be justified. In view of that, Mr. President, we are urging you to return the country to a transitional government. We do not want to see another Yahya Jammeh, military ruler. Your own government supporters are not certain about your regime’s future. You have deviated from all your promises and propaganda politics. The APRC is a failure and your attempts to find a safe exist is not helping the situation at all.
Mr. President, the PPP old guards have good reason to sue you for defamation of character. Your past lies against them do not hold water. The likes of OJ and others can raise their head high today. These folks have been vindicated by Jammeh.
Edward and co to some extent have genuine reasons to protest over Jammeh’s hypocrisy. In short, Jammeh, is sending a warning signal to them -that whether they like it or not the old guards are here to stay.” If these so called revolutionaries were committed to the true ideals of a revolution, they would have tendered their resignations by now. Jammeh, is making them small in the eyes of The Gambian public. Jammeh, is compromising all what they stood for when they came in July of 1994.
