The September Elections and President Jammeh's service chiefs-Impartiality ZERO!
The Credibility of the forth coming elections has already been compromised by President Jamme's security chiefs.
'Asobi' and threats!
In
Gambian local language 'asobi' means when a group of people dress up in
the same colour and texture. This does not make it an institutional
uniform because people may choose to sow theirs in different styles. It
is a tradition in Gambian politics. If any one Puts on the 'asobi'
bearing the same texture, colour, pictures and logo of a given political
party means the person has chosen to identify him or herself with that
particular party. On the nomination day it was open and clear before
the eyes of every Gambian that Harry Sambou head of the NIA,Lang
Tombong Tamba chief of staff,IGP Sonko head of the police and other
prominent civil servants wore the APRC 'asobi' in broad day light. This
was real and physical evidence showing which party these goons support.
How on earth can Harry Sambou wear this APRC 'asobi' hold a microphone
and then attempt preaching impartiality or other professional methods
to us? Harry Sambou kept on rambling because he was just from the bars
again.

He
was simply fake and stupid to say the least. The opposition should
address things like this forthwith. They should send protest letters to
the incumbent president on the issue surrounding security personnel and
civil servants who are poltically bias. They have the right to support
any party but at the same time should desist from showing open
allegiance towards any party especially the ruling one while performing
their duties. This in undone and completely unfair towards the voters.
This is an open threat. How can Lang Tombong the head of the army,
Sonko the head of the police,Harry the head of the NIA put on the APRC
Logo campaigning for President Jammeh and then expect the opposition to
trust them? Opposition leaders should not take this lightly at all.
They have to complain and then copy their letters to foreign embassies
in The Gambia. I personlly raised the issue with a diplomat today. He
also believes that the NIA,GNA and Police should not be partisan while
performing their duties.
Harry Sambou was at social welfare, Halifa Sallah was there too...
Harry
Sambou head of the NIA worked at the social welfare office some years
back. He is well known at this place as a lame talker. There are people
who fully remember Harry at this place on Dobson street. Of course
Halifa Sallah was there too. Any person who worked with both men knows
the stark difference between the two. Harry would not have taken on
Halifa if he was not drunk. He knows what is meant by that.
Infact
his response was far from the what Halifa was talking about. Harry
would have appreciated the same intervention from Sallah if he was the
one in jail. We remember when Baba Jobe and FJC used to stand as wild
panthers before Halifa during sessions at parliament. In defense of
President Jammeh. Where is Baba Jobe today? Wasn't it Halifa Sallah who
spoke in defense of Jobe when he was incarcerated unjustifiably at
yundum police? We also remember when Shiriff Dibba threatened that he
had the powers to throw Sidia Jatta out of the house a couple of months
back. Where is Shiriff Dibba today? The same Sallah supported Yankuba
Touray's recent bill in parliament. Has President Jammeh ever opened
his mouth in support of anything the opposition does or has been doing
in the past? He never did it and cannot do it because he not trained to
understand the meaning of decency in politics.
Harry
Sambou refering Gambians to decree 45 when we expect to hear him quote
from bills that have been passed by parliament? Decrees...at this time?
These
so-called service chiefs have already corroborated what the reporters
without borders said. It is now clear that the credibility of the forth
coming September Presidential elections in The Gambia has been
compromised by the incumbent regime. This has been done at the farthest
point one can ever imagine. To make matters worse Tumbul Tamba the lead
hitman at Kanilai joined the line of politicised security personnel.
This is a dangerous path. Tumbul according to a source I spoke to was
given talking points by President Jammeh himself. President Jammeh
attempted quoting CNN but confused the items he heard with utter
nonsense. He did not understand what he was trying to compare with his
way of running the affairs of our country. Worst of all he sent Tumbul
Tamba a man who cannot even read a complete paragraph to further
confuse our people.
The
whole world is watching President Jammeh use service chiefs during
political rallies. This is what happened in Ivory Coast before, today
the repercussions are so expensive for them.
President
Jammeh can study from Senegal our neighbour. He will never see the head
of the Senegalese military police or the head of the army attending
standing on a podium addressing a mass rally in favour of Wade.
Neither will he ever see or hear the head of the Senegalese
Intelligence addressing political rallies. It is only morons who do
that. It is unthinkable in a serious democracy. I was discussing this
with a Senegalese student from Dakar university whose mother is
married to a Gambian. It was disgraceful. He shattered and shredded
everything these service chiefs are doing. He scored a lot of points by
using what we commonly refer to as compare and contrast. His reference
centered around Dakar, Conakry and Liberia! None matched what obtains
in the Gambia. After having gone through 15 years of civil war
President Johnson never used security personnel to campaign for her.
How about Jammeh who is yet to see a bullet near his residence in
Kanilai? We are lucky that Jammeh has not been told Ndure Cham is
coming back. Then he would have cancelled the elections using security
threats as an excuse.
I was so cold because the smart studet was hitting hard on our President's immaturity with concrete facts.
The
same sentiments were echoed by a Guinean shop keeper who used to be a
political science student in Conakry some years ago as we were drinkin
green tea infront of his shop last night. The Gambia's case is a big
disgrace in Africa.
