President Jammeh is the man of endless parties and jubilations, when Gambians are crying everyday.
It
was another chilly evening of endless dancing. The 'Kabekel' drummers
were at it again. There were other cultural troops from different
ethnic groups but President Jammeh's show is always stolen by the same
'Kabekel' drums and flutes. Personally I like the sound produced by the
Jola 'Kabekel' because it is authentic African rythm. However, what I
dislike is the way our President has hijacked this within a tribal
perspective. President Jammeh uses these 'Kabekel' dancers when on the
shady line of mischief. This is usually geared towards helping the
Casamance fighters. The 'Kabekel' dancers are the same I wrote on while
exposing what they do for Jammeh as so-called cultural Ambassadors.
They are the same people who ran secret errands for Jammeh in
Venezuela,Morocco,Taiwan and Egypt. Some of them are high school or
college graduates from Casamance. They speak good french and basic
English therefore can run errands for President Jammeh with all due
respect. The errands they run for the President are those he may not
want to disclose to his Secretary of State for foreign affairs. Most of
the time they travel with special messages that none would ever expect
near a 'Kabekel' dancer. This is an Idi Amin style. Half-baked
dictators use unexpected methods sometimes.
Edu Singhatey and Lamin Kaba Bajo more talented than the original dancers? Trying to impress their boss?
I
could not believe my eyes when I saw Edward Singhatey and Lamin Kaba
Bajo throwing new currency notes to these 'Kabekel' dancers. Alongside
Edu the Briton started swinging his sides like a belly dancer. Kaba
Bajo was on the spot light too trying to impress the boss.
Unfortunately for Kaba he could not force his limbs to adopt
the 'kunyilaku' lesson. Nyimma Satta Sanneh was the star dancer amongst
the lot. She and President Jammeh were about to part when her former
star Baba Jobe was incarcerated. She coiled back, abandoned Baba because
she did not want to lose the bread and butter. Nyimma is forcing all
she can to make President Jammeh believe that she isn't part of the
Bakau clique. Nyimma does not want to be reminded about what has been
buried at Mamakoto. She wants to be called Jola not a Kabunka anymore.
These are the type of fake souls President Jammeh listens to when
it comes to measuring his popularity in town. There were other
performers at the scene of President Jammeh's own (economic crime). It
is an (economic crime) because he is wasting money when our farmers are
starving and scavengers are sniffing garbage at Saaro dumpsite. Jammeh
was dancing when Gambian scavengers were packing the booty they got
from a social war fare, ready to run home in total sadness. And this is
a president whose own mother used to sell dry fish at Bakau market. He
should have been the first one on line crying in defense of these
scavengers. But no,President Jammeh prefers subbing the scavengers
while dishing out money to the 'kabekel'. This is Mrs Assombi Bojang's
son? A woman I used to buy fish and papaya from? A woman who used to
stoop all the day under the hot sun trying to make ends meet? Today we
have his son maltreating poor women? Forgetting what he used to
complain about near the Bakau super market? President Jammeh should be
very careful of these scavengers near these dump sites. He has a
daughter who can become a refugee one day.
Anything
is possible in life. When I saw Miriam passed by with her teddy bear
clipped within her little fingers I could not stop myself from feeling
pity for her because she is facing a bad future because of her father.
Miriam when she drops from the state house cars goes straight to her
class room innocently. She does not know that her grand mother used to
sell dry fish. It is her father who should tell her that therefore she
can know what pain means when she grows up.
Partying after threatening the IEC...
As
soon as the 'Kabekel' dancers came in Edward Singhatey and Lamin Kaba
Bajo started dishing out new currency notes like dunken sailors.
They
gave out money like no one's business. Many who were at the
dance-square party were caught off guard. Edward Singhatey,Peter
Singhatey dishing out money during gatherings? Wonders never sieze
anyway. As for Lamin Kaba Bajo it is not a surprise because he is as
empty as President Jammeh if not more.
Lamin Kaba Bajo is a "Yes Sir" diplomat.
Someone
was standing close to Lamin Kaba Bajo when he was making some
irresponsible remarks. Lamin said he is a soldier and will always
remain one therefore his boss's orders are what he will execute. He
continued to say that he does not know anything about this so-called
classic diplomacy. At this juncture he jovially referred to the old
soldierly rules that is,
Rule number one-The boss is always right.
Rule number two-refer back to rule number one.
Can
we as decent citizens of the land expect a man like this to stop
President Jammeh or bring him back to his senses if he were to invite
the worst people on earth into our country?
Lamin would never hesitate leading anyone (I mean whoever it maybe) to Banjul if President Jammeh was
to ask for it.
This
man is not Sedat Jobe. He is not Gaajo in Senegal. He is a dummy thats
always ready to test coats for the tailor. President Jammeh is the
tailor,Kaba Bajo is the dummy in his workshop period.
After
all why make the fuss out of what money Edu and Kaba gave to these
'Kabekel' dancers when President Jammeh has started wrapping tobacco
with Senegalese CFA Notes? He derives pleasure out of such stupid
actions. The Senegalese will continue scratching stones whereas they
are expecting milk from a dead cow. President Jammeh enjoys threatening
people with things like "I will use your skull to drink water.." Or "I
will use that country's currency to smoke tobacco when am ready with
them" President Jammeh believes that any person or people he has a
problem with are bound to be cursed.
This is what he believes in therefore he is ready to do anything wrong or right
because he sees himself as someone sent by God to salvage us the subjects.
