Following his worsening health conditions, NADD official Omar Amadou Jallow was flown to the United Kingdom for further treatment, the Freedom Newspaper was told during the weekend. Mr.Jallow a former Agriculture Minister in the first Republic and also popular MP for Serre-Kunda was recently hit by a sudden illness. This comes shortly after the defection of his close associate, friend and brother Ganji Touray to the Ruling APRC. Ganji who used to spent most his precious time at OJ' PIpeLine Home was said to have been induced by the Ruling Party with a Pajero and a substantial cash amounting to millions to pledge his allegiance for the Jammeh government. While others blamed OJ'S sickness to Ganji's sudden change of political heart, observers said Jallow was becoming old and needs some rest for now. Ganji Touray was OJ's  most trusted aide and was often seen around the leading politician.

Source close to the Jallow family said OJ was recovery to treatment. Mr.Jallow's absence from the political scene will high sense of relief to Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh. OJ is said to be one of his arch critics who is widely listened to by voters during elections campaign trail. Mr.Jallow is not only charismatic, but also vocal. His absence will no doubt be felt by his colleagues at NADD. With barely few weeks to the country's polls, Jallow is currently placed under doctor's monitoring. It is not yet clear if he will be allowed by his doctor to engage in active politics at this hour. What is evident is that OJ is home sick as he oftens said he misses the political race.

Gambians should not lost track of the fact that President Jammeh is good at issuing "Sada,  Sarah" known as charity. He will do whatever it takes to ensure that his critics like OJ are out of the political race. While we do not want to point accusing fingers at this hour, we can report with certainty that Jammeh is happy about OJ'S absence from home. They are even praying for the politician not to return until after the elections. What a wicket President.

Why are government critics afraid to go to RVH for treatment?

Many government critics are afraid to go to government hospitals these days if they are sick. They go to West Field clinic, a privately owned hospital. They have some valid reasons not to go to the RVH. One, they believed that the state might used the doctors to inject them with chemicals that will kill them. Two, they think that at the RVH, they will not be given good treatment since they arre members of the opposition. The Medical Research Council, Ndemban Clinic and Palmer of West Field usually take care of such patients. To some extent, these patients are very right. The President is capable of using his Cuban and other foreign doctors to prematurely kill our political heavy weights. The President should be God fearing and leave our opposition leaders alone. Trying to use foreign doctors to harm them will not help anyway. Such moves are unGambian. We have reached a stage where opposition supporters and their officials are not comfortable going to government hospitals. Jammeh should come in and allay our fears. If things were okay in the country, OJ wouldn't have been flown to the UK. There are qualified doctors at the RVH to take care of him. But people don't trust these doctors. Jammeh created such a mistrust as he screens people who works for him.

Meanwhile, Kebba Jallow former KMC Chairman told the Freedom Newspaper that OJ was indeed flown to the UK for further treatment. "He is recovering very well. In fact I spoke to him few minutes ago, while he was taking a walk. He is doing pretty well."Jallow told the Freedom Newspaper.
