Opposition strongholds likely to go to the APRC-As they pump money and Rice in Upper Saloum, Jarra, Baddibous and Basse!!! Opposition strongholds likely to go to the APRC-As they pump money and Rice in Upper Saloum, Jarra, Baddibu's and Basse!!!
APRC Engages in Vote Buying in Jarra,Basse,Saloum and Baddibu-Dr.Manneh, Momodu Picka,Ganji Touray And Yankuba Touray At Th Center Of The Graft!!
Freedom Newspaper Profiles Hamat NK Bah
Leader
of the National Reconciliation Party Hamat Bah, is posed to face a
tougher challenge in the coming Parliamentary elections. Bah's
constituency Upper Saloum is being penetrated by the ruling APRC ahead
of time. While Bah and Darboe are busy countering Jammeh from village
to village, some APRC officials led by Yankuba Touray and Ganji Touray
are touring Hamat's locality dishing out cash and food stuffs to
impoverish voters. The target of such voter fraud is not only directed
at Hamat Bah as a person, but his party leader Ousainou Darboe. The new
NRP/UDP Alliance will find it very difficult to win Upper Saloum, the
Baddibous, Jarras and even Basse this time around if urgent actions are
not taken to remedy the ongoing voter fraud taking place in these
regions. It is gathered that President Jammeh himself had assigned
certain APRC militants led by Momodou Picka Jallow to collect voters
cards from perceived opposition supporters who received the APRC cash
and rice inducement deal. The Jammeh errand boys walked into people's
houses at night to hand over rice and cash. While President Jammeh is
trying to claim that he never sent such individuals to collect voters
cards, the people of Upper Saloum, Basse, Baddibous and Jarras told
this paper that the people who came to collect their voters cards told
them that they were sent by the President. Momodou Picka Jallow was at
the center of the said voter fraud, so we learnt.

Don't Give Your Votes To UDP/PDOIS-Bah's words in 1996 For the
opposition to win the coming elections is a wild dream which will never
come true. The voter fraud on the ground speaks for itself. Their
chances of capturing more seats in parliament is also very slim in view
of the on going APRC "CASH AND RICE" politics. We should bear in mind
that its rainy season time. During this time of the year, most farmers
are in dire need of food and cash. A lot among these impoverished
folks will not hesitate to surrender their voters cards if approached
with cash and food items.
It will take years for the
opposition to realize the APRC's fast operations to induce these poor
voters. Our country is no doubt heading towards one party state. These
opposition parties parading themselves as Jammeh's main opponents are
not real as they want to make us believe. A true and committed
opposition will never argue over the issue of position. If the
opposition can win five seats in parliament, they must be very lucky.
The amount of money pumped in Jarra, Baddibous,Basse, and Upper Saloum
is unspeakable. The likes of Dr.Manneh, Ganji Touray, Momodou Picaka
Jallow and Yankuba Touray are criss crossing the nation day in day out
to canvass for votes. They obtained votes in an illegal way. These
people are laying out solid campaign foundation base for Jammeh. They
act as advance party before Jammeh visits the villagers he had on his
itinerary on his so called meet the people's tour. We at the Freedom
Newspaper, chose to expose this major voter fraud than wasting our
pages with Jammeh's lies and propaganda campaign.
Hamat Bah,
Halifa Sallah, Sedia Jatta, and Kemesseng Jammeh should watch their
backs, as Jammeh is doing everything humanely possible to win their
seats. They should not waste too much time on the issue of the
Presidency, as there is no way that their respective parties can win
the Presidential polls. The current opposition division will help
Jammeh on his life time Presidential dream.
We Profile Hamat Bah
Hamat
NK Bah has earned himself as a vocal and charismatic politician. Prior
to joining active politics, Bah worked as a hotelier. Bah a one time
expelled teacher student at the Gambia College, following a massive
demonstration later found himeself into the hotel industry. When Bah
declared his intention of challenging Jammeh in 1996, many Gambians never
took him seriously. For them, they believed that Bah was trying the
wrong profession. That for Bah to enter into politics was suicidal as
he risked losing his good paid Novotel entertainment job and other
private businesses. Bah used to live with us at Latri-Kunda Yirrinaya.
Being in charge of hotel entertainment, Bah had added advantage against
his opponents. His campaigns were always lively and well attended even
though he was new in the political field. Don't take it as an offend,
but to many Bah was seen as a comedy in some places with his bluffs to
drink tea at the state house after the polls. And he indeed make his
promise good, as Bah sat teta te with Jammeh shortly after the election
results were declared. We saw him drinking tea at Marina Parade with
Jilanka. He had a friendly and brotherly conversation with Jammeh.
Despite
local and international condemnation about the said fraudulent
elections, Bah endorses Jammeh's stolen victory. Many at the time
believed that Bah was sponsored by the APRC to legitimize the polls,
but Bah rubbishes such allegations. He defended his move of visiting
Jammeh. He said such a move was meant to promote national unity and
harmony. To some extent Bah was right, but on the other hand he erred
by trying justify Jammeh's victory with his empty rantings. Bah could
have just stopped at calling for national reconciliation and avoid
legitimizing Jammeh's victory. But Bah went too far to call the
elections as free and fair.
Hamat Bah used to have good ties with
German tourists. While many believed that the Germans sponsored his
1996 Presidential race, Bah successfully won the Upper Saloum seat even
though the APRC made numerous attempts to vilify him. They call him
names at their campaign trails. That Bah was a dancer and security
guard chief at Novotel. They call him all kind of crab. Assuming
that the APRC'S claims were true, but what has Bah's past jobs have to
do with his new career? There is dignity in any labour any how. What
was Jammeh prior to July 22ND 1994? A poor soldier without healthy
savings. Jammeh was indebted wiith banks over drafts prior to the coup.
Thanks to Kawsu Gibba of the Continent Bank his unpaid over drafts were
written off. This was intended to save Jammeh from embarrassment.
Hamat Bah's own words in 1996
Thanks
to the Radio Free Gambia, we were able to hear Hamat Bah's campaign
statement back in 1996. Gambians will be surprised to learn that Hamat
Bah once said "if Gambians are not prepared to vote for NRP, they
should not give their votes to UDP and PDOIS. "Bah said the two parties
were failures. He was very critical of Darboe, Sallah and Jatta in the
said speech. Bah even went as far as calling on voters to vote for the
APRC if they don't want to vote for NRP. The tapes are there to speak
for itself. Politicians are unpredictable. They can change over night.
Bah at the time don't have confidence on his new friends the UDP and
PDOIS. But today is a different story all together. Bah is dinning with
Darboe on the same table. That's politics. Be it Hamat, Darboe, Juwara,
Sallah, Jatta, and Jammeh himself, consistency is very important in
politics. Making unfulfilled promises will always jeopardized one's
political career. Voters are no fools to be played with. They reserve
the right not to vote for lying politicians. Let Hamat Bah reflect on
his 1996 campaign speech. He has deviated from all what he said on that
speech. Bah should be real in order to be respected. Flip-flopping
politicians have no place in modern politics. Read our subsequent publications, where we intend to feature other contenders in the coming elections. Stay tuned.
