When
English language used as a medium of communication it becomes an
active conductor that changes patterns and meanings. Sometimes context
matters when this medium of communication is used for different
reasons. It is obviously the reason why this paper avails itself of
this opportunity as and when the need arises. Today the need has arisen
again. This need reminds us of an old famous dictum that goes. " Show
me your friend,I will then tell you who you are!" Isn't President
Yahya A J J Jammeh of The Gambia calling President Chen of Taiwan a
true friend every day? Yes he does. On the daily observer today another
donation was received from the famous Dr Wang. Chen's envoy to Jammeh
the universal beggar. As these allegations against Chen continue
growing while terms like "Secret Diplomatic Funds"
are flying around Taipei these days,we will see whether all accusations
against Yahya Jammeh are true or false. We are refering to accusations
that are trailing this Check-Book Presidency Internationally.

There are
indications all over the place showing how the duo are using public
funds for cheap popularity or satisfy the taste buds of their family
members. Taipei is being misled by another corrupt capitalist all in
the name of trying to decapitate the Island from being administered by
Beijing. Even if the latter is a genuine cause politically, there is
miscalculated step here. I think the current DPP party that is in
power, led by President Bian has forgotten to recognise something
elsewhere. And this something he cherishes so much for his people. Why
does he care less if we in The Gambia are being denied the same thing
by his friend Yahya Jammeh? What is this thing? It
domination!!!!!!!!!!!! The fact that Gambians also do not want to be
dominated should mean something to this Chinese freedom fighter! Is he
a real freedom fighter? Freedom fighters fight against injustice
anywhere and everywhere. The Taiwanese government will argue this out
by saying that, The Gambia is at least a member of the UN and a country
not colonised or annexed by another powerful nation. Yes this is
externally true but internal a falacy. The current regime in The Gambia
rules worse than a colonialist does. Why? because colonialist are
usually after political and economic expansion. The latter counts a lot
for them. This is why exploitation was the order of the day for
colonialists. What is unexpected is when a son of the land that is not
colonized uses colonial methods! This is harsher than what colonialism
sprinkled on us. Therefore Taiwan cannot expect a warm welcome from the
down trodden on our land. They can be seeing or receiving political
welcomes but never will they receive the traditional one from Gambians. President Bian may not
know but in The Gambia Taiwan has been cited as one of those nations
aiding and abetting President Jammeh's Killer instincts. Our questions
to Taiwan today are these...
-Does the Taiwanese Presidency read news about The Gambia other than what they receive from their embassy in Banjul?
-Did they read the MCC-MCA Press release sent to President Jammeh their Check-Book friend on June 16th 2006?
-Have they so far conducted a fact finding mission on the Jahaly Pacharr Project?
-What details did they present to the Executive Yuan in Taipei with regards to the failing projects in Banjul?
-Why
are they supporting President Jammeh on a national lie he says
everyday? This lie is when he refers to having purchased tractors for
our farmers. Is he truthful on this, when he knows it is a loan from
Taiwan?
-Why are they keeping quiet over this lie?
-Are they in for Jammeh or for Gambians?
These
questions are meant to prepare the ground because concerned Gambians
will cooperate with any party in Taipei as and when the investigations
against Bian heat up. There is no doubt in our minds that President
Bian's latest scandals will go beyond the gates of Sogo. A well known
business group in Taipei. Sogo originates from Japan and is part of the
legacies a former powerful colonial master left behind. Lest we forget
when Japan controlled all that area in the past.
For
further information on this national disgrace that is about to swallow
President Jammeh's friend in Taipei please read this site (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2006-09/07/content_683198.htm). These
are not cooked details but real ones. Bian is defending himself when
Jammeh is threatening and killing journalists. We in The Gambia wish
that these journalists pouncing on Bian could do the same thing to
Jammeh when next he visits Taipei.
