President Jammeh threatens to seize compounds of polygamous men!!!!

…Calls Gambian men 'womanizers'

Kerrewan Is No More NBR Capital-As Jammeh Moves NBR Capital To Farafenni!!

Barely a week after the end of his 'witch-hunting' policy during which so many people were killed, tortured and forced to flee the country, Gambian president, Yahya Jammeh has stirred another controversy. Addressing members of the rubber-stamp National Assembly during the State opening recently, the Gambian leader marked Gambia men folk as irresponsible and useless.

President Jammeh who has made a trademark for himself of being a master at war-waging against his own people over frivolous issues, he has once again come up with another brutal move that can potentially shatter the family tradition in the Gambian culture. According to President Jammeh, the women of the country are his favorite and said his new operation is meant to show solidarity with them.
"Democracy and human rights go with responsibility,” President Jammeh said. He said no man will be allowed to marry a second wife from now onwards if their first wives  bear children for them.

“If you leave your wife that has children for you and go for a new wife, I will seize your compound," he said. He warned the men folk to be extra careful with him and also be responsible. “If you are responsible then you can take care of your family. I am not encouraging women to disobey their husbands but for society to be strong, men have to be responsible."
President Jammeh also warned that he was going to overhaul the gender working pattern in the country. “Women work twelve months in a year and civil servants work only four month in a year.” He disclosed that, last year, he had planned to set up an 'Additional Wife Task Force' that would go from to house to take on men with two wives. “Women are in for development more than men. If men of this country become endangered species it won't be good. Men of this country should change their attitudes. We sit and look under trees at our Bantabas only to look at girls and chase (after) them," he averred.

He finally warned the men of the country to brace up for his new campaign against them, as according to him, he is ready to deal with the men folk once and for all, in order to make the women have their time to rest.

Meanwhile, The Gambian leader has announced the transfer of the Kerrewan administrative regional capital to Farafenni. Mr. Jammeh says from now on Farafenni will serve as the regional capital for North Bank region.

He also announces the naming of two regional capitals in the Central River Region CRR.  Janjangbureh administrative region will now be called the southern capital, while Kuntaur would be called the Northern capital. The ailing Gambian leader advances no reason for such changes.
