The Alkalo of Babylon Village Muhammed Lamin Jarju, and three other villagers were picked up for questioning Thursday after a British National filed a complaint against them that they were opposed to the administration of President Jammeh. The police complaint also linked the four suspects to drug trade, a charge they vehemently denied. The men were picked up by personnel of the Major Crime Unit of the police force.
According to sources, the British subject Eagle known as Mr. Jordan filed a complaint against the men, which warranted a police probe following instructions from President Jammeh. The complaint also states that one Sulayman Jammeh, an ex soldier has been seen with Mr. Jordan’s wife Jane Jordan, which never went down well with the Briton. Both Sulayman Jammeh, and another ex -soldier Saikouba Ceesay alias bad soldier have been accused in the police complaint of not acknowledging President Jammeh’s Government. Also arrested was Sarjo Fofana a native of Babylon.
Police obtained statements from the detainees, who told them that Sulayman Jammeh was having an affair with the former wife of the complainant. Sources also stated that Madam Jane Jordan later called the police informing them that all what have been said by “these men was a lie as the complainant never visited the Gambia and did not even know the Alkalo and his people.”
The Alakalo and three others were released on self bail, but were asked to report to the police on Monday. No charges have been filed against them yet. All the accused persons were former soldiers with the exception of Sarjo Fofana.
