Breaking News:Gambian Lawyer Defends Justice Minister Marie Saine Firdadus!! Tuesday, December 04, 2007 (1014 reads)
Gambian Lawyer Defends Justice Minister Marie Saine Firdadus!!
…..”Marie graduated from Malaysia with Second Class Upper. She also did pretty good while she was at the ST.Joseph’s High School. Your source at the AG Chambers should give the devil its due. Marie has always been a serious and competent Lawyer. She has been diligently handling cases assigned to her.” said the Lawyer who contacted the Freedom Newspaper today.
Following our recent lead story in which Gambia’s Justice Minister Marie Saine Firdadus was accused of inefficiency and unnecessarily dragging piles of police cases at her office, a colleague of the Minister has reacted sharply to the story describing it as “unfair and misrepresentation of the true qualities of Justice Minister Firadus. The protesting Lawyer said the current AG is a lawyer of high standing and was competent enough to execute her function without any doubt. “ I read your paper on a daily basis. It’s my favorite Gambian Newspaper. I read your paper five to six times a day. I digest whatever information reported on Freedom. Having said that, I have some reservations about a recent piece published by your paper regarding the qualifications of the Justice Minister. Marie graduated from Malaysia with Second Class Upper.

Gambia’s President Says The 44 Ghanaians Were Murdered And Dumped into The Gambia By Unknown People
“… What hurts me most is that I have a very excellent relationship with Kufor and some how these bodies appeared from nowhere and we are accused. “says Jammeh.
By Foday Ceesay
Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh has spoken for the first time since the massacre of 44 Ghanaians in The Gambia, in July 2005, as the Gambian leader emphatically rejected allegations that his Government murdered the said West African Immigrants. Jammeh who was speaking in an interview with the Sierra Leonean Press said he had no reason to Kill Ghanaians.” We have found them in a coastal fishing village. And what we thought was that somebody must have killed them and brought them to the sour. For The Gambia, we have no reason to kill Ghanaians. Ghana is the only country that has a Community that have their own town run by Ghanaians. As these bodies appeared within that vicinity and we had to call the Ghanaian Community to come and identify these people and they say they don’t know them. And we announced it. We invited all honorary Consuls and diplomats in The Gambia to go and identify the bodies, they were never identified.” said Gambian President Yahya Jammeh.

Dear Pa,
May I first and foremost congratulate you on your new born baby. So your baby is only few weeks older than the baby son of Yaha (not Yahya). They will share the same generation. I wonder whether there will be enough resources, both human and economic, left for them to have a meaningful lives in our Gambia. Today, the SOS for Finance will lay before the members of the National Assembly, the Draft Estimates outlining the revenue and expenditure(including development) plans of government for the coming 2008 fiscal year. We should take these figures with a pinch of salt as they have been subjected to all sorts of manipulations, revisions and omissions.

“This Is Not Saja Taal, But Dida Halake Observer’s New MD.” Halake Tells Freedom Newspaper Reporter
Observer MD Hang Up On Freedom Reporter
As Observer Fires Editor Ousman Darboe
“This is not Saja Taal. It’s Dida Halaka, the new Observer MD. “ This was what Mr.Halake told the Freedom Newspaper Reporter who dialed Saja Taal’s old mobile line 9970234, only to be greeted by a strange voice. This time, the voice of the 51 year old Ethiopian Dida Halake. Halake picked up the phone. This reporter was assigned to interview Saja Taal regarding allegations of generator theft leveled against him by the current Observer Management. This was not the first time that Taal had been talking to us on the said line. Our expectation of reaching Taal was shattered when Halake announces that Taal was no longer in charge of the said phone line. This reporter went ahead to ask him one quick question: What can you tell us about the sacking of Editor Pa Ousman Darboe? Halake wasted no time as this reporter introduced himself to be a staffer of the Freedom Newspaper by hanging the phone on his ears. It was a terrible encounter so to speak. We just could not imagine that our former Freelancer would treat us in such an arrogant way. Halake just hang up the phone without giving any reason for Editor Darboe’s removal.
