Freedom Newspaper Mail Bag: What Our Readers Say Today!! Captain Lamin Yarbo Gives Freedom Tap On The Back but....

By Lamin Yarbo, US Army Captain

Mr. Mbye,

Let me thank you for the great job you are doing by providing Gambians with the most recent news about their beloved country. Your paper have become the main source of Gambian news for me.

Having said that, let me ask of your paper to at least give Ms Fatim Badjie a chance to prove herself. I had the opportunity to have attended the same university (TSU) with Ms Badjie and her brother. I graduated before any of them though from the school of nursing. Ms Badjie and his brother are one of the most disciplined and hardest working students I have ever met. They have both graduated with honors, and TSU will forever be proud of them to say the least. On that note, let's give her the chance and wish her the best. That is the Gambian way.

By the way, I called you earlier but you were at work and the connection was not very good.

Keep up the great job!!!!!!

Dear sir,
I regret to inform you that I am finding it difficult to access your news and other important stories about the Gambia.I am beginning to wonder wether it has been blocked by your enemies and enemies of freedom of divergent views.
Please, try to get over the situation as soon as poosible. It is sad that I could not help much but am really concerned because I spent time at the Internet cafes to get news that many on the ground will not report.
  Thanks.

PROSE:A balad with "fertile" minds.
Reason O! Puzzle! There you go..."seuls les imbeciles sont recompenses!" Thats what a "fertile" mind said from the granary of French literature. Life has this habit of compensating and gratifying a Persona Non Grata! Life also has this habit of digging into history's quarry only to come and say..."Why did I compensate a non grata?" O Life! sometimes you speed up and wreck the train. There are so many leaflets we are yet to squeeze into our pockets. Who knows? Who doesn't know? Steaming polemics and freezing whispers.
Another French "fertile" mind said:"J'suis sur le drapeau d'une nation qui saigne!" Hmmm trotting on the flag of a bleeding nation? Is that what you are saying...you the "fertile" mind from  the orchards of French literature?
O God! O God!

By MB Ceesay, Banjul.

Declaring the new legislative session open Friday, Gambia’s President Yahya Jammeh warns the country’s opposition to desist from actions that might undermine the country’s peace and stability. Mr. Jammeh said the opposition is free to operate in the country, but was quick to add that they must operate within the confines and  dictates of the laws of the land. “. "We want positive opposition not destructive ones. I have nothing against the opposition, but no one should hide behind the opposition to cause havoc, we would not tolerate it." Said President Jammeh.

Editorial: The Fatim Badjie Affair- Editors Clarify!!!

Following our editorial on our dear sister Fatim Badjie, we received numerous emails and phone calls from concerned parties. A good number of those who contacted us, were genuine in their interventions. They all pleaded for Fatim to be given chance, since she was new in the job. We assured the callers  that the Freedom Newspaper,  harbors no grudges against Fatim Badjie. Our editorial was meant to counsel Fatim to be wary of the devil Yahya Jammeh.

Like we promised,Fatim's case was a closed file unless if she and her supporters "stir" anything. We knew a bait like this was going to catch some, knowing how some Gambians can be. This thread of "my family should not be touched" is what has been helping Yahya Jammeh stay in power for the past 3 years(when his real mental illness started dripping in public). The same defense being displayed in favour of Fatim has been paraded in favour of many others in the past when they were appointed. At the end the same cross pollination of "jargons" and paraphrases have been used.

Barack Obama-His Presidency ‘An  audacity of hope’ to the White House

                  By Alagi Yorro Jallow

It is imperative for me as someone who is interested in politics and as a student of government and someone with an innate political aspiration of my own to dissect the ever-changing landscape of America’s geopolitics and ascertain how Barack Obama, this son of a Luo (an ethnic group in Kenya), has all but attained a position that has until now been dominated solely by whites—that of winning presidential candidate for a party.

VP Isatou Njie-Saidy-in Banjul's "Ego-Therapy" Castle-Misusing words on purpose.

VP Isatou Njie-Saidy-in Banjul's "Ego-Therapy" Castle-Misusing words on purpose.

Hammadi Maasinah

Isatou Njie Saidy's case is one of those reminders we have in our minds when one thinks about the "cold" so-called intellectuals who helped sustain the likes of Former President Samuel Doe in power. She is also a carbon copy of those slimy beings who helped finish brains like  Diallo Telly during his time in Guinea Conakry. How many "namesakes" of Diallo Telly has this woman aided and abetted Yahya to finish so far? Many! She is a hiding serial killer that people do not notice. She escapes with reddish canine teeth of a vampire during the dark. Such dangerous serpents always go unnoticed. Yes they do! Put Isatou and Yahya before a guillotine for me,I will slice her first. She is not the least harmless as many think, this woman for me is harmful to the core. Characters of Isatou's nature  are "pets" for deadly dictators. She is a good candidate when it  comes to the insatiable desires of Yahya Jammeh's dictotarial 'supa-kanja'.

Freedom Newspaper Mail Bag: What our readers say today! Fatim Badjie Receives Public Sympathy

By A Concerned reader

Hi Pa Nderry,

Thanks for the good work you are doing with Freedom Newspaper, it is the top class new source for Gambia! However, I think you were being unfair to our girl Fatim Badjie. This is a fantastic appointment by President Jammeh, and although I am not quite familiar with Gambian politics, Fatim is action oriented and will inspire young women.

Fatim and I went to the same univesity, she graduated top class with a Mass Communication Degree at Tennessee State University (TSU) (By the way Oprah Winfrey attended the same school) and is a fantastic public speaker and great on radio and tv (she had her own radio show back in college).

Also I am very suprised your reporter (Bubu Hamma) miscategorized her and accused her off some element of shadiness for being on MySpace. Come on this Hillary kind of tactics, most university graduates are on My Space and there is nothing in Fatim's myspace page or her history that is shady. She has always been a woman of high class with strong moral aptitude. Also as you rightly mentioned, she really comes from a good family, her Dad is an Ambassador and her brothers are also very intelligent (one is a medical student at TSU and the other, I think her oldest brother Malik, is a wall street investment banker). As such its laughable knowing Fatim and her family that she would stoop to being with a married man (whoever it is!), come on that is just plain slander.

Anyway I dont want to focus on her personal life as her family can defend her and although I respect and understand your reservations about her qualifications for such a high profile job,  I just want you guys to give her a chance, she is more of an intellectual  and this might just be the shift the Gambian press needed ! And on behalf of all her sisters and friends at TSU, WE ARE ROOTING FOR HER.

Hello editor,
Just read your piece on Fatim Badjie.  I have tried to ignore your attempt to smear her name but deem it necessary to remind you of your stand and what you often preach.  I know you would call me a judas or other names. True, i had my rough rides with your paper---rightly or wrogly that is left to history to judge.  However, that has nothing to do with what i want to write you about.
What i do want you to understand, as i have told you before is that your writings have immense implications on how other people live their lives.  Calling Fatim, Yahya Jammeh's girl friend does not serve any good for the Gambia.  Attacking her without giving her the benefit of the doubt is a clear betrayal of what you often preach.....impartiality.  I hope you give deep thoughts to issues before posting them for public consumption. Just a thought!

      Be Blessed...
  Muhammed Jawara

Editorial: Jammeh’s Love Affair Relationship With New Minister Fatim Badjie Exposed!!

The new Information Minster Fatim Badjie,  is not qualified for that job. She was appointed Minister based on tribal line. Besides, tribal politics, reports also have it that Fatim is Jammeh’s secret girl friend. Jammeh is that type of a leader, who uses his office to  abuse our  young ones. He's more of a prostitue, than a President. We are for real. After abusing the erstwhile Minister Neneh Mawdowl Gaye, now  it’s Fatim Badjie’s turn. Jammeh cleverly played his cards right, by sending Neneh to the UN. He does not want Neneh to see him with Fatim Badjie. That’s the hard fact. Neneh has been exiled in a civilized manner. Jammeh’s relationship with Fatim Badjie is not a secret in Banjul. Everyone is talking about it. Jammeh’s apatite for women is becoming a  cause for concern. We should tame this mad person, we call a President. Jammeh should learn to treat our women with respect.
