In Defense of the Freedom Newspaper
Friday, April 28, 2006 (315 reads)

          BY:Haruna.

As a Gambian, I wish to express my appreciation to the Freedom Newspaper for reporting the truth to me to the best of their ability. I understand that the Freedom Newspaper does not speak for me but I appreciate the valuable service they are attempting to provide to me and my fellow citizens amid an atmosphere of press intimidation, suppression of truth, wanton murder, and disregard for our common constitution in Gambia. Amid such dictatorship, the Freedom Newspaper represents one of many guiding lights for the restoration of Democracy and the rule of law in Gambia.

I therefore register, here and now, my high esteem for the Freedom Newspaper and its hardworking editorial staff. With limited resources and capacity, they have aimed to deliver the truth with due consideration to both sides. We would not need the Freedom Newspaper if we had the rule rule of law, regard to our common constitution and the attendant rights it assigns to the citizens of Gambia. If nothing else, I regard the Freedom Newspaper as innoculation against the garbage coming out of the Observer Newspaper. Haruna.

Haruna.

HOROMSI:BE WEARY OF THE ENEMIES WITHTIN!!!
Friday, April 28, 2006 (450 reads)

HOROMSI: Many want to make a point, but don’t want to take responsibility. They will try to set you up for no reasons. Cowards resort to such desperate attempts. Remember, he who God bless, no one can cause. The Freedom Newspaper is blessed. We are ten steps ahead of our enemies. Thanks to God’s guidiance and protection we are able to discover their conspiracy theories. They will come up with all kinds of lies and propaganda messages. Little did they know that, we are too experienced to be fooled or used for nothing. This paper was not created for personal vendetta purposes. Bear this in mind. Be weary of those claiming to be patriotic Gambians when they are not. They try to tell lies against people they don’t even know. Once a hypocrite is always a hypocrite. They will tell you “Karrileyafournya, Dewmomakowah.” Doormiaduna Defawaraamsutura. These shameless folks are calling everywhere just to tell lies against people. They can be their own so called bosses and not on Freedom. We are born to be free and will not condone such hypocrisy. Our friendship with people will be based on truth and mutual respect. Anything short of this will not be accepted. Have a great day.”

EDITORIAL:FREEDOM NEWSPAPER WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED-JAMMEH IS THE THREAT!!
Thursday, April 27, 2006 (605 reads)

      EDITORIAL

“The events during the past months only proved one thing. You are more dangerous and a serious threat and shame to this country than JAMMEH as you claim he is. We have seen what you are capable of doing - you are ready to burn this country and reduce everything to ashes just to prove your point as always intend in your fabricated articles. If there is something that we need protection from, IT IS PROTECTION FROM YOU.” Those were the words of Sanyangba, a supporter of President Yahya Jammeh. Sanyang who also called himself as Foni accuses the Freedom Newspaper of being a threat to the Jammeh government and The Gambia as a whole. From the paper’s managing Editor, staff writers, Bulfaaleh and private contributors were not spared by Sanyangba‘s empty and malicious ranting.

JUST TOO MUCH FOR ANYONE
Thursday, April 27, 2006 (580 reads)

              BY SANYANGBA

Dear Pa and Friends, FELLOWS, Media

People, Leftists, and all Bleeding Hearts Out There:

I am angry. And I know that there are many out there who are angrier than I am for the same reason. And that reason is simple. I am sick and tired of all you guys claiming to speak for us and many Gambians. I feel like screaming every time you mouth words about fighting for our freedom and our rights, when you obviously are just thinking about yours whilst castigating and laughing at us. You tell me that the essence of democracy is providing every citizen the right to speak his or her mind and make his or her own informed judgments, but you yourselves do not respect our silence and the choices I and many others have made.
