It was about 11:30 a.m. when Momadou Marong, a 51-year-old Gambian immigrant who lives in the Bronx, drove down 72nd Street and found himself facing an avenue on the East Side of Manhattan. He peered out the window to see what the sign said. “York Avenue,” he said, then nodded as if he had just recognized a famous New York celebrity. “Oh yes, York Avenue, there it is!” Mr. Marong had heard about this York Avenue— east of First and only 32 blocks long — in the two-week Taxi School he completed a few weeks before, but until that moment, he had never been there. He steered his yellow cab around the corner and pulled over to pick up a passenger, his fourth ever.

STATEMENT BY THE UDP ON THE SUSPENSION OF HON. BABANDING DAFFEH, NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBER OF KIANG CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY. 

The National Assembly is the forum in which the elected representatives of the people debate and discuss issues they consider to be of national interest.  Such debates and discussions should only be influenced by the dictates of a member's conscience.  If in the discharge of a member's responsibility views are expressed which reveal the excesses and/or failures of the Executive that should not be a reason to prevent a member from expressing those views. It is even more unacceptable for a non elected member clothed with the title of "Speaker" to suspend an elected member from any sitting of the National Assembly because of that member's criticism of the conduct of a public officer and/or Government's decision on any matter that the Member believes affects the nation on one way or the other. 

Immigration Officer Says Pap Saine Is A Gambian By Birth!!!

The citizenship trial involving the Point’s boss Pap Saine resumed in court today with prosecution witness  Ebou Correa of the Immigration Department testifying.  Immigration agent Correa, appearing before the Banjul Magistrates Court adduced that all the documents presented to  him by the accused were valid.The prosecution witness affirmed that he knew Pap Saine. That he had seen Pap Saine at his office in Banjul sometime ago. He said Pap had produced authentic evidence of his birth records,  before him Ebou, Inspector Sainey Ndure and Inspector Malamin Ceesay.  He testified that Mr. Saine’s  nationality as a Gambian was in tack as far as their records were concerned.

If people have so much money and they have not withdrawn it, where does all the money go? In that case someone must be collecting the money somewhere," he said.
