JOLLAS HEAD BUREAUCRATIC UNITS!!!
Of Tribalism and Men: Pointing out Ethnic Politics in the Gambia is No Crime – The Watchman
Once again, Gambians are showing their timidity when it comes to facing the glaring deficiencies of our grossly imperfect democracy by attacking a newspaper gutsy enough to point out that yes, tribalism does exist within the pungent environment of political stagnation that Yahya Jammeh has concocted after 14 torrid years of misrule. To hear them tell it, critics of the Freedom newspaper's recent illustration of political appointees tainted by a common denominator, that of being Jolas, are concerned that all in all, these reports are just stunts that have no merit and possess the latent potential to incite internecine mischief. As the British would say, this is plain poppycock. Gambians are sensitive to a fault about how the imaginary good name of their country is seen and perceived by others and amongst themselves and this not only shows political naiveté but also reveals the biggest impediment to national development and the building of a credible juggernaut of an opposition to the blight and malaise proffered by the parasitic Jammeh outfit.

DC WINS ALD GAMES OPENING!!!
….WASHINGTON ARE 2008 ALD SOCCER CHAMPIONS.
By Correspondent Bakary Gibba, Washington DC
An early penalty goal propelled Washington DC to a lone goal victory against the defending champions New York an claimed the 2008 African Liberation Day tournament in Washington DC.The soccer tournament that forms an integral part of the ALD tournament in Washington DC has once again ended in Columbia Park at the suburbs of Washington DC. Eight teams participated in the fiercely contested tournament. They include Washington DC, Cincinnati, DC old hands, Reading PA, Atlanta, Rhode Island, Senegal and the defending champions New York.
The group games were played throughout Saturday and the winners played the semi finals on Sunday. New York defeated Ohio in a post game penalty kick out and Washington narrowly defeated Reading to a lone goal. The final game was played between the defending champions New York and the hosts Washington DC.
A game of splendid nature was shown by New York and an early penalty in the first quarter was converted into a goal that defined the match. With all the struggles from New York strikers, wonderful defense by Essa Jallow and a great play by goal keeper Dennis was not enough to offset the win. Time became a factor and the game was ended abruptly without time elapsing when it became dark.
Washington DC claimed the trophy for the first time in many years. The presentation ceremony would be done tonight. The ALD is celebrated by Gambians as a tribute to the founding of the OAU on May 25,1963. Beauty contests, sympossia, soccer tournaments and lots of merry night characterize the celebration. Final version to come tomorrow.

TRIBALISM IS A CANCER!!!
……President Moi of Kenya has characterized tribalism as a cancer
Tribalism in Africa
A dialog from the AGE-L
30 April 1995
Date: 29-APR-1995 16:28
From:Stephen Isabirye peacetoallhomosapiens Description: Tribalism in Africa
President Moi of Kenya has characterized tribalism as a cancer. This is an accurate description of a demoralizing challenge that we face in Africa. As an urban raised African I too saw tribalism as an evil that we have to overcome. Increasingly lately I have come to regard tribalism both as a cancer and also a tool that can be used to propel Africa to a new dimension of development.

TRIBALISM CRIPPLES AFRICA! Tribalism cripples Africa
By: Wittman, George H., (2005-12-24)Africa remains as much a mystery to Europeans and Americans today as it did when Henry Morton Stanley tracked down Dr. David Livingstone for the purpose of creating a story that would sell newspapers.Africa was viewed as the "dark continent," an unknowable exotic land of possible hidden treasure. Since then its mineral wealth has been well explored and developed - with very little benefit for the general population - and the problems that plagued the region remain today much as they were in 1871.

IS TRIBALISM A TABOO IN AFRICA??
Africa: Tribalism lives, for better and for worse
By Jonathan Power
Published: THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2006
LONDON: There was a time, not that long ago, when African leaders insisted that it was politically incorrect to discuss tribalism. Tribalism was the face of old Africa that the modernizers, inheriting their domains from the departing colonialists, refused to accept.Today's African leaders have learned to be not so glib. Sudan is the latest turn of the screw that started with Katanga and Biafra and went on to Angola, Rwanda and Burundi with passing stops in Zimbabwe, Uganda and Senegal.

PK JARJU GOT IT ALL WRONG!!!!
……JAMMEH’S TRIBAL DISCRIMINATION ATTRACTS PUBLIC OUTCRY
.....PK JARJU ATTEMPTS TO DEFEND THE INDENFISIBLE
By Gibriel Jagne
I am compelled to respond to PK Jarju´s commentary in defense of Yaya Jammeh and his marauding tribal inclinations. I have utmost respect for PK Jarju, for his principled stance and reasoned arguments on matters of national import. This time, the inconvenient truth being revealed regarding the fierce and virulent rise of Jola tribalism championed by Yaya Jammeh and aggressively supported by a new Jola elite gang, succeeded in rousing him from his ditch of apparent of sanity, thrusting him into the plane of pathetic emotion and sentiment evoked purely out of affinity. Although PK attempted to lace his arguments with citations from respected sources, he failed flat in concealing the totality of his inner thinking.

Also we are informed that the commander of the paramilitary is a Jolla but we are yet to get his full name. So let's give time to our Banjul-based investigators to dig deep into what one of our editors calls Jammeh's Jollanisation's relentless drive.
Let President Jammeh prove us wrong if what we are saying here is out of touch. We are unlike Jammeh who in May 2006 went all-out to come up with trumped-up list of Freedom Newspaper subscribers and viciously harassed them. We at Freedom we mean business and not bullines.
