Freedom Newspaper intercepts"Jagne's free duty waiver" letter which gave Jobe powers to bring containers in The Gambia free of charge and uninspected."
Gambia's Ambassador to the United States Dodou Bami Jagne, was one of
those who aided and abetted jailed Jarra MP and Majority Leader Baba K
Jobe to defraud the State several millions of dalasis, a document
intercepted from the Department of State for Finance and Economic
Affairs unveiled. Jagne, who recently reduced himself as " a
pathological liar" with his failed attempts to smear the image the
Freedom Newspaper, according to our findings was the brain behind the
"free duty waiver" that was issued to the Youth Development Enterprise
(YDE), a company once headed by Baba Jobe. Jagne according to Finance
Ministry officials issued the said "free duty waivers" to jobe without
the due approval of the authorities concerned. Baba Jobe said our

CRITIQUE ON AU BANJUL SUMMIT Summit
Draft Agenda Fails the Litmus Test; the need for the reformation in
governance, rule of law and democratic change of power in Africa. By Yankuba Jambang -Associate editor, FreedomNewspaper.com As
the African Union's Banjul summit draws nearer, I have decided to take
a closer look at the summit draft agenda.Surprisingly however, the
issues of human rights, freedom of speech, press freedom, democratic
transfer of power in Africa, endemic corruption that plagues the
continent, tolerance, the need to abolish coup d'etas, the need to end
dictatorships which happens to be the root cause of a number of civil
wars and insecurity on the continent are conspicuously NOT on the agenda!!! What then is the summit about? Former Malian President

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-Serious Security Issues-President Jammeh vs President Wade. Sunday, June 25, 2006 (1168 reads)
Tete-a-tete with President Wade,Sana Sabally,Ndure Cham should they be political pawns? Sources
in Banjul have quickly revealed what reporters could not and did not
hear during President Wade and President Jammeh's discussions at the
airport in Banjul. President Jammeh had a list of requests in his file
when he met the old man from Dakar few days back. One of the most
important challenges for President Jammeh at the moment is the handing
over of elements like Sana Sabally and Ndure Cham to him and the
CHIAKAS.

Breaking News-As AU Summit gets closer NAWEC Predicts more power cuts!!! Tales of official corruption and low staff moral uncovered! By Senior Staff Writer Karafa Badjie and Justice Sam
It
appears that the much talked about African Union Banjul Summit will be
greeted with interrupted electricity cuts, as the tiny West African
country is still witnessing more power outages, the Freedom Newspaper
can authoritatively report. Well placed and credible sources close to
the National Water and Electricity Company NAWEC say the generators at
the Kotu Power Station are "very old" and could not service 24 hours
uninterrupted water and electricity supply. Sources say despite the
new generator recently secured by the government to serve AU delegates
to be hosted at the Burufut Villas, a good part of the country is
living without electricity on a daily basis.

Breaking News:Gambia abuses create unease ahead of Africa summit!!! Sunday, June 25, 2006 (672 reads)
By Alistair Thomson
DAKAR (Reuters) - A leading journalist
is shot dead, a newspaper is shut down and close to a dozen people are
rounded up over links to an opposition Web site -- and all this in
Gambia, home to Africa's human rights commission.Small wonder
the decision to hold this week's African Union summit in Gambia has
caused unease among media and human rights campaigners who say it gives
the tiny tourism-dependent West African country undeserved prestige as
its abuses worsen.

Letter to The Gambia People-Freedom Newspaper Editor Mathew K Jallow!!! Sunday, June 25, 2006 (418 reads)
By Associate Editor Mathew K Jallow
On the eve of the African Union meeting in Banjul next week, we
must address matters relating to our country; where we are and where we
are going. While most of us do not hold any particular positions or
states that sets me apart from any other citizens of our country, we
are, however, concerned about the direction we are headed to want to
effect changes. As the A.U. gets ready to hold their meeting in The
Gambia, we have an obligation to educate them on the true state of
affairs in the country, politically, socially and economically. The
A.U. Secretariat had been inundated with letters of protest and pleads
urging them to reconsider the planned Banjul meeting, but these
international efforts have met with little sympathy or success from the
organization's big wigs.

Open Letter to The Gambian Opposition Leaders: Sunday, June 25, 2006 (382 reads)
Open Letter to The Gambian Opposition Leaders:
The Future of Our Country; The Gambia
By Associate Editor Yankuba Jambang
Addressees:
Ousainou Darboe, UDP; Hamat Bah, NRP; Sidia Jaata and Halifa Sallah, PDOIS and Omar Jallow, PPP
Dear Gentle Men,
THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY-THE GAMBIA
It's
with great concern and heartache that I write you this letter. I write
because our country, the Gambia is on the brinks of becoming a state
without effective central government, lawless and it's tilting toward
decadence with a very bleak future. And, I believe as well as you do,
gentle men, that the best way to prevent Gambia from slipping into
total chaos is to end the rule of Yahya Jammeh. Nothing else but to
drive Jammeh out, period. Many of
Gambians, including me, were very optimistic that Jammeh's tyrannicalregime will soon be history with the formation of NADD, the umbrella
body that was to comprise of all political parties in the forthcoming
presidential election. Much to my chagrin and to many Gambians for that
matter, this formidable political force that would no doubts send
Jammeh and his murderous regime out of Banjul, broke into two; Ousainou
Darboe and Hamat Bah on one side and Sidia Jaata, Halifa Sallah and
Omar Jallow on the other. The reason for the break up was, as I was
made to understand, "a disagreement over who should lead the
coalition".

Breaking News:Has AU Organising Committee tried to solicit"Kick Backs" from Kombo Beach?A Hotel insider explains!!! Saturday, June 24, 2006 (501 reads)
Breaking News:Has AU
Organising Committee tried to solicit "Kick Backs" from Kombo Beach
Hotel? Aggrieved parties spill the beans!!!! By Senior Staff Writer Justice Sam
A well placed source close to the
Kombo Beach Hotel, have accused the Gambian government of "undermining
the hotel's business" by denying AU delegates who booked to use the
facility for a conference. According to our source who happens to be an
insider at the Kombo Beach Hotel, the state denied the hotel several
thousands of dalasis in view of what the source describes as the "
hostile reception" meted out to the African Union delegates who wanted
to use the hotel for conference purposes. Earlier this past Weeek, the
coordinator of the AU Banjul Summit Bolong Sonko, conveyed a message
from the Jammeh government to the AU delegates, who wanted to use the
Kombo Beach as a venue for an international conference on the
theme"Freedom of Expression in Africa." Mr. Sonko, a former Foreign
Affairs Minister, under the defunct AFPRC military junta, however, did
not advanced any reasons for such a move, which attracted local and
international outcry.
