my remarks that Jammeh will win the next election was not based on any tribal line-PK Jarju Friday, July 28, 2006 (327 reads)
By Journalist PK Jarju
Reaction
Editor,
It is true that Yankuba and I both came from the same area (Kafuta
and Sohm) and have been childhood friends, and from different tribes,
I want to make it catergorically clear that my remarks that Jammeh
will win the next election was not based on any tribal line.
Everyone who knows me well, will bear me witness that am not
tribal blinded in my work as a journalists. All what I am renowned for
is writing nothing but the truth. I have never and will never be a
tribalist because most of my friends like Yankuba himself are from
different tribes.
I want to make it clear to the whole Gambian population that in
line with principles of my noble profession, I have never supported any
political party. For me, being partisan would greatly affect my
work. Let me again state that I have got friends in almost all the
political parties in the country. For instance, Hamat Bah, Shyngle
Nyassi and Omar Jallow are all my best friends but our friendship is
based on who we are and not what we are.

Putting sense into PK Jarju's Head-Commentary!!! Friday, July 28, 2006 (288 reads)
Putting sense into PK Jarju's Head By Yankuba Jambang-Associate Editor It's
very unfortunate and sad to read such a myopic commentary from a
person who calls himself a journalist. PK, I believe, just started
writing without thinking. Writing is a powerful way of communicating
and it's always preceded by what is called THINKING. You have to think
before putting pen on paper and by doing so, you will be able to have a
subject matter or topic of whatever literary work you want to do. So, I
am writing this piece because I want to put some senses into PK's head
by analyzing his commentary which, I believe, is full of contradictions
that could be noticed by a grade 9 student! Here we go:PK
writes:"As a journalist who have covered the previous elections, am of
the firm believe that Jammeh is going to sweep the polls again with a
wider margin. Though, I disagree with some of his policies and actions
especially when it comes to freedom of expression..."

SIERRA LEONE: CPJ calls for justice in case of killed journalist Friday, July 28, 2006 (205 reads)
SIERRA LEONE: CPJ calls for justice in case of killed
journalist
New York, July 27, 2006—The Committee to Protect
Journalists today made the following statement on the eve of the first
anniversary of the death of journalist Harry Yansaneh, former editor of the
independent newspaper For Di People.
“It is outrageous that one year after our
colleague’s death, the state appears to have dropped this case. An
official judicial inquest found that Yansaneh died as the result of a brutal
beating, and a ruling party parliamentarian was implicated in the crime,”
said CPJ’s Africa Program Coordinator Julia
Crawford. “A serious attack on a journalist should not
be allowed to go unpunished, especially if it contributed to his death.”

By Yanks Darboe LLB(Hons) UK
Dear Pa
I wish to counter-react to what PK Jarjue reaction to your news article. PK and I are both from the same part of the Gambia, we grew up together and have both played on the same grounds. Me and PK later both worked in the Gambia as Journalists and even here in the UK, me and PK are closed friends, not long ago we even went to Works night club together in Birmingham, UK, sharing some childhood memories together! Fraternally, me and PK are more than friends we are brothers! However, politically, for me it is one of the legacies of the Dictator Yahya Jammeh’s regime, that is manifested between me and PK’s political affiliation, the division which separated us is not that of politics but tribe!

Following Horomsi's piece on Jammeh's Marabouts-Journalist PK Jarju reacts!!! Thursday, July 27, 2006 (555 reads)
By Journalist PK Jarju
Hello Pa
Reaction!
I wish to react to your today's lead story captioned "Jammeh's
Marabout trying to make Darboe to concede defeat come September-Drug
Squad officials unveil "Jujus,Charms" dropped!!!". To be honest with
you as a friend, i found the story to be flattering. I couldn't stop
myself laughing all day long.As we are in the 21st century, there is
noway a marabout of juju can influence the outcome of any election.
Free and fair elections only reflects the will of the people. As a journalist who have covered the
previous elections, am of the firm believe that Jammeh is going to
sweep the polls again with a wider margin. Though, I disagree with some
of of his policies and actions especially when it comes to freedom of
_expression, Jammeh's chances of winning the election are increasing
everyday due to numerous socio-economic developments he has undertaken.Lets remember that as poor and developing
country, a greater majority of the Gambian population shows leadership
as the will of Allah and will continue to cast their votes to any
incumbent is in power regardless of his education, manifesto. Many of
the Gambian electorates are of the of the believe that voting against
an incumbent is going against the will of Allah.

Gambia Deserves an Alpha Wednesday, July 26, 2006 (400 reads)
By Abdoulie Jallow (BambaLaye)
Gambia Deserves an Alpha
Barely eight weeks from now, we shall once again make a decision on who
will lead the nation for another five years. One is inclined to conclude
the choice for leadership is as clear as the difference between day and
night given the events and experiences of the last decade or more. September elections abound, puffery abundant as I scribe; what we need now is to reflect on what we expect in a leader and who among the contenderswill deliver. I am talking about those qualities not only subconsciouslyabsorbed but taken for granted in the milieu of the act of disintegration of the only hope for salvation. I am trying to avoid delving into the circumstances and resultant effects of sharing unbaked cakes, biggest mistakes made or the democracy of numbers etc.; reflect on this for a minute:

Gambia deserves an Alpha; Gambia deserves Halifa Sallah and NADDs
leadership-BambaLaye Declares!!!
