Poem:My Pen's Ink embraces the legacies in Sahel
The mathematics of time and existence has spoken again!
Dabaah left us in 1997,Saliou has waved his hand bidding us farewell in 2007.
Ten years are gone,Saliou's image is also gone.
No events without great men or great women.
No great men or great women without great events.
Legacies are for events and memories.
Are our memories dry where Bamba,Ebrima,Malick and Oumar paste their names?
Never!

Ambushing the Jakai rebels of Casamance with landmines in our forests.... Saturday, December 29, 2007 (475 reads)
Ambushing the Jakai rebels of Casamance with landmines in our forests....
Hammadi Maasinah
Yahya Jammeh laying mines for Jakai rebels in our forest? Has he forgotten that such activities attract markets for arms dealers. The highest bidder gets the commodity! Is he even sure if there are people who have more money than the whole of The Gambia who would sponsor the Jakai rebels against him? Is he? How about looking back at the history of the Casamance rebels? A history of 25 years with attractive fighting skills against one of Africa's most disciplined and highly trained army, which is Senegal's armed forces? Has he forgotten that he himself was initiated into military combat by these very officers? Well another thing Yahya has forgotten is that when he lays his mines, linking them with booby traps, the Jakai rebels are also equipped with mine detectors? Has he forgotten that they have been in this fight alongside his friend Salif Sadio until they parted? Because Sadio is a selfish brute like him Yahya! Laying those mines in that thick forest, where our poor people have been fetching firewood for years, sows nothing but seeds of despair and discord.

For the sake of power President Jammeh has gone too far and too deep only to bring in more and more deadly weapons in Banjul. It did not stop there,Jammeh,Lang Tombong Tamba,Ambassador Bajo and others in the ring received Iranian arms plus trainees into Banjul. As we are piecing this story together there are Iranian security personnel dining and wining in Banjul. Their mission is, training the state guards on what they call "counter insurgency tactics". Two weapons have already been identified by our correspondent thanks to his close contacts with Brigadier General Tamba's circle. He saw and touched them!

The Banjul Figures versus Realities of The Gambia-Part Three Friday, December 28, 2007 (250 reads)
The Banjul Figures versus Realities of The Gambia
Part III covering the key social sector of the economy – Education, Health and Agriculture
Secretary Gaye’s ramble over education runs from section 41 – 48 without substance either where we are coming from and/or where we are heading. The confusion on the ground is the same on paper. He reported the full implementation of the nine year basic education in relation to demand. He also happed on the non-repeat completion of lower basic education at 65% and expected it to increase to 100% by 2015. The teacher student ratio in the lower basic is 1: 45 (too high). He gave some stupid figures over their desire for gender parity at school but ended up saying the number of boys and girls are equal to up to the Upper Basic level.
