Breaking News: The Big Interview: Human Rights Lawyer Mai Fatty Speaks!! Yahya Jammeh and Co Exposed!! Sunday, January 27, 2008 (1361 reads)
Freedom Newspaper Award Winning Lawyer Mai Fatty Exposes Yahya Jammeh and Co!!
“I believe in the right to constitutionality and good governance. And if this will land me in trouble, then I’m happy to be in trouble all the time.” Says Lawyer Fatty
“Baba K Jobe donated a power of attorney to me, whilst under custody, authorizing me exclusively to negotiate the withdrawal of his property guarantee in favor of Julakay Enterprises. Now this was necessary because Mr. Jobe claimed to be the majority shareholder in this enterprise, while the minority shareholder at the time was busy trying to disposes him of his shares and changing the papers. As his personal family attorney, even before his economic crime trial, I sought to carry out his instructions, but the DPP who wanted to make look like there was a conspiracy between Mr. Jobe and I to move his resources out, trying to make big thing out of it without presenting any such evidence in court. The power of attorney donated in my favor by Mr. Jobe was registered with the state as required by law and that was how they knew about it. I registered it with the state as a public document and brought it to their attention because we wanted transparency. Unfortunately, it appeared they were more interested to put my client in bad public light. The power was subsequently revoked to allay fears as well as to disarm those who were looking to use it against my client and perhaps myself for ill motive. Like I indicated, absolutely nothing went wrong. But the DPP wanted build a mountain out of it and use it as an indication that Mr. Jobe has resources and these resources were intended to be secretly transferred out of the country. Now there is no iota of truth in this. In order to neutralize the effect, the possible effect of this colossal fabrication, Mr. Jobe and I we discussed and decided that we should revoke this whole matter to put an end to these unfounded speculations. “ These were the exact words of Gambia’s leading Human Rights Lawyer Mai Fatty, who recently survives an assassination attempt. A trailer truck driver believed to be an agent of The Gambian Government ran on his car, leaving the popular lawyer motionless. Mr. Fatty was immediately rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital, prior to his evacuation to a Dakar based hospital. In this Exclusive interview with the Freedom Newspaper, Lawyer Fatty commented on reports he received linking agents of The Gambia Government to the incident, Gambia’s alarming human rights record, unfinished persecution he suffered from the hands of the Jammeh Government, Baba K Jobe blood diamond case, the police’s attempt to get him debarred by questioning his credentials as a trained lawyer, Jammeh’s wealth, properties owned by Government officials overseas, rising corruption in The Gambia, the ailing economy and a lot more. Below is part one of the interview we had with Mr. Fatty who was on his sick bed. Please read on……………………..

Yahya Jammeh's insults to the British diplomats-a fool's protocol
By Hammadi Maasinah.
I have always been telling Gambians and friends of The Gambia that Yahya Jammeh is a huge monkey shaking the thorny tree. This tree has no sweet fruits,it only drops thorny branches on people's heads. You know the whole scene here reminds one of Charles Dickon's title "Great Expectations".

If you have any advise or suggestion for the paper keep it. We do not need your advise or guidance in shaping the future or welfare of this leading Newspaper. Enough is enough. Yahya Jammeh a loud coward losing respect-Shedding the threats!
By Hammadi Maasinah
As the days are passing by Yahya Jammeh is also realizing that his threats mean nothing to our determined citizens. It is pleasing to see the determination of the voters who rose the flags of victory for the independent candidates. Those who won in their respective constituencies. "Yes Gambians Can!" (borrowing Barak Obama's slogan-"Yes We Can!").

Hello Editor,

My name is Maddow Darboe and I am originally from Gunjur but I lived in sukuta for the most part of my youth after completing high school and therefore Sukuta is now my adopted town. I will like to first of all say that I am a Mandingo and I used to love and cherished Sam Sarr, until when I read his comments about tribalism between Mandingos and Wollofs in the Gambia.

Lt. Colonel Samsideen Sarr Under Fire Again!! Leadership Failures!! Saturday, January 26, 2008 (979 reads)
Lt. Colonel Samsideen Sarr Under Fire Again!!
LEADERSHIP FAILURES
Technically Sam Sarr does not deserve that title because he did not retire honorably.
By Ebrima Conteh
Sam Sarr should do himself and Gambians a big favor and keep quite; this is the most politically correct way I can make this statement. The 22 July revolution was due to massive failure in leadership, Sam Sarr should own up to this fact, accept it and move on. He is addressing Gambians as if we are stupid. No excuses will abdicate him from the responsibilities entrusted in him and his fellow Officers. He is not the first Gambian to lead soldiers, the manner in which he rants in the online community makes me question if he was a real Military Officer. It is uncharacteristic for a military leader not to accept his responsibility.

After the much talked about naming ceremony of Muhammed Jammeh the son of President Jammeh, other things are emerging. According to a source I spoke with during my tour, the newly born baby has since been flown to Morocco accompanied by a delegation of state house officials. Each one of those officials will be receiving a perdiem of nothing less than $100 per night. If the Zeinab is to stay there for two months for example then each official will be earning $6000 per head. Usually she travels with an entourage of at least 5 people. 5 times 6000 =30000 per head! Only to loiter around Morocco guarding a baby?
