Gambia ALERT:Two journalists sacked, reinstated
Two journalists, Lamin Dibba and Ebrima Jaw Manneh, of the Daily
Observer,a Banjul-based pro-government daily newspaper,were on
February 7, 2007 dismissed by the management of the newspaper.
Although the reason for their dismissal is unclear, Media Foundation
for West Africa (MFWA) sources indicated that the two journalists were
accused of deliberately writing a story in a way that undermined
President Yahya Jammeh's claims of treating HIV/AIDS and asthma
diseases.Dibba and Manneh, according to the sources, wrote that ninety-three
(93) asthmatic patients treated by President Jammeh recently have
recovered. But the management says it should have been written that,

Yahya Jammeh-Lansana Conteh compare and contrast-Why Gambians should "merge" and strike! Tuesday, February 13, 2007 (972 reads)
By Our Security Affairs Correspondent.
When one compares and contrasts the leadership in Conakry with the leadership in Banjul it becomes so obvious that people can force dictators out. However, this can never be doable where loss of life is feared. First Guineans forced Conteh to appoint a PM Prime Minister which he swore not to do earlier on. When pressure mounted from his own citizens Conteh was forced to appoint a PM.We are in the second face of the state of affairs that will send Conteh into the gutters of African history. Between yesterday and today his army has killed 23 demonstrators! The price is so dear but Conteh will go!

Anti Whaling Countries-Gambian Delegation Disgraced over few dollars! Tuesday, February 13, 2007 (871 reads)
Staff Writer-Hamadi Maasina.
What a disgrace! Once again Yahya Jammeh's government has brought us an additional ton of disgrace. This early morning the National Public Radio NPR woke us up with another blunder from The Gambia government under the command of an unstable man,President Jammeh. The Gambian delegation attended a meeting where Japan expressed its anger over anti whaling countries who have since been against countries that encourage the hunting of whales. Japan and Iceland are part of those countries which care less when it comes to conserving natural spieces like the whale. This is why the ongoing meeting was boy cotted by many capitals. The Jammeh government in Banjul searches for controversial issues like that to be able to get chicken change. The NPR correspondent at the meeting asked himself why countries like The Gambia were attending an anti whaling meeting organized by Japan? He simultaneously sent in an accurate leading question saying..."Is it because of Japan's aid package?" Thats it!

Breaking News:President Jammeh Went Missing In Kanilai-GAF Official Says the Command Nearly Issues Press Release! Tuesday, February 13, 2007 (1517 reads)
By A Senior Staff Writer
While President Yahya Jammeh's mental status is being doubted at this hour, an interesting but rather amazing piece reaches our news desk this morning. Few days ago, Jammeh was reported to have went missing at his Kanilai Villa. State Guard soldiers on duty could not give account about the President's whereabouts. He was not seen at the palace at all. As often said, madness usually drive people into roaming and this was exactly what Jammeh did on that fateful day. Thanks to a Kanilai lady,Jammeh's whereabout was established by the state house guards dispatched to search for the President. This story might sound strange, but it's a true story. This information we put online is coming from sources at the heart of Jammeh's government. Jammeh who is believed to be mentally unstable took it upon himself to walk into the Kanilai bushes without an escort. It beats the imagination of many as to how he manages to walk out of the Villa unnoticed. To the surprise of the Kanilai residents, Jammeh was found on a ladder while trying to climb a tree. A crack noise supposedly emanating from the said ladder drove Jammeh panic stricken. While in that lonely bushes, Jammeh was afraid to step down from the ladder. He spent some hours that night in the bush. Thanks to an old lady who was passing after fetching firewood, Jammeh asked her to call one of the guards, one Badjie, to come to his rescue, a time when the guards were very worried of his whereabouts and mounted a search on him.

Inside The State House With Teeth Bite:Dr.Mbowe Says Jammeh Is Mad! Monday, February 12, 2007 (1531 reads)
When the Freedom Newspaper reported few months ago about President Yahya Jammeh's ailing mental problems, some of his so called Di-heart party militants dismissed our claims. They accuse us of being an enemy of the President.
Today, we have been vindicated in the eyes of the world. President Yahya Jammeh of all Yahya Jammeh is today exhibiting his real mental problems with his fake cure for HIV/Aids and asthma. These pictures we are publishing this morning are horrific ones and we therefore apologize to our esteemed readers for any discomfort this might have caused to them and their families. These are HIV patients in Jammeh's new clinic in Banjul, where he claimed to have cured a good number of them. But competent sources at the Ministry of health told the Freedom Newspaper that none of the HIV patients attended by Jammeh have so far been tested negative. While many in the country here believe that Yahya Jammeh is mad, Local Non-Govermental Organizations in the country, including the World Health Organization and UNiCEF are yet to make up their mind on this fake aids cure. Trying to counter Jammeh's claims might cost them dearly. This I can confirm. Jammeh is threatening to arrest, expel or detain anybody trying to dispute his claims. He also have in mind to close NGOS trying to doubt his Aids cure. Our NGOS are caught between the sea and the devil. They either say they believe Jammeh's Aids cure claims or remain mute until the show is over. He is using the Daily Observer and the state controlled media to promote his latest lies on HIV and Asthma cure. His own Health Minister told me when we met at a local bar on the Banjul/Serre-Kunda High way that there is little they can do on the President's claims on aids cure. The Bar is called Jakaranda Bar and Restaurant. Dr.Mbow reveals a lot about President Jammeh's mental problems when he is drunk. He told me that he at some point contemplated resigning, in view of what he calls the "embarrassing situation" the Health Ministry had found itself, but fear of possible reprisal if he ventures into such a major decision. Dr.Mbowe must be shocked to read online the conversation we had, but I thought it necessary to let the cat out of the bag. Dr.Mbowe opposes what is happening at this hour, but due to greed, lack of faith, professional dishonesty and syphocancy he is tempted to join the Jammeh madness fray. I will throw more light on my encounter with Mbowe later on in this piece.

The term "witch doctor" not so recent,Yahya Jammeh spits he does not speak. Monday, February 12, 2007 (730 reads)
By Hammadi Maasina, Staff Writer.
Our good old friend Yahya A J J Jammeh needs some lesson on the term that infuriated him so much. After all Jemus the term witch doctor is not so recent. You always link things to colonialism and all other verbiage you have in mind when reacting to on-line stories. This is wrong brother,it is just so wrong to be thinking like that all the time. The term is not a tag meant to paint Africans per se. This has been part of Europe's history. We heard you say this..."Infact there is nothing like a witch doctor because one is either a doctor or a witch" Well done Yahya! I really like that way of saying it brother.

PANORAMA with 'Bulfaaleh'-Fear Factor-Health expert worries if President himself is free from AIDS? Monday, February 12, 2007 (700 reads)
The need for screening donors and people who come into contact with patients before anything else starts.
"HIV/AIDS is a dangerous disease that no person should use for political reasons" these are the words of a health official I spoke with this morning. He was talking to me about the recent counter attacks coming from AIDS activists in South Africa against what President Jammeh is doing these days. This health official is really concerned because he said health is apolitical therefore should never be linked to political vibes. President Jammeh according to the official I spoke to is indeed flouting every regulation governing their profession. He refered to the reason why doctors usually test the blood donors these days. He also refered to the reason why disposable syringes are used. He compared these professional methods to the risky way President Jammeh is using to "presumably" cure AIDS victims. This according to the professional health expert is going to have very serious repercussions in the long run.

Editorial:Bombshell AT The Daily Observer,Two Reporters Fired! BBC Network Africa Quotes Freedom! Sunday, February 11, 2007 (757 reads)
EDITORIAL
President Yahya Jammeh got it all wrong when he resorted to instigating the firing of the two Daily Observer reporters, cum editors because of their alleged move to doubt or question his ability to cure HIV, the virus that causes Aids. The Observer, which has been propagating and promoting Jammeh's lies on Aids cure are today victims of the dictatorship. Two of its leading reporters, have been fired because of their coverage of the President's new found cure for HIV. The President was not happy with the questions fired to him by the two reporters Messrs Ebrima Jaw Manneh and Lamin Dibba regarding his so called mandate to cure HIV and asthma. The poor reporters have been sent home without a job. Their years of loyalty to the paper and the dictatorship have gone into the drains. This is why it's important for journalists to assert their independence at all times despite one's political affiliation. It's now clear that the Daily Observer belongs to the Gambian President Yahya Jammeh. The State House remote controlled what goes into that paper. It also decides who should be hired, fired and disciplined. We invite our dear readers to click on this BBC Radio link, where the Freedom Newspaper is being quoted on Jammeh's fake cure for HIV/Aids.The said piece was featured on their weekend network Africa Program. Thanks to our Banjul Correspondent we were able to know about the BBC program on Jammeh. Here is the link: Please enjoy.
Claims by Gambian President Yahyah Jammeh that he can cure Aids with the laying-on of hands, cause Olushambles and Kibarkingmad a great deal of amusement.
